Orienteering race (POM Middle) 34:10 [3] 7.1 km (4:49 / km) +200m 4:13 / km
Legs felt terrible in the morning but much more up for it after warming-up. Plan was to go out hard-ish and then try and hold on, and also beat Tom. There was a fast M20 setting off at the same time who got me up to speed well. Probably should have just gone directly to 1 but went left a little. Think I was also too left to 5 and lost contact in the middle part of the leg, kept running until I saw a big rock though and relocated. Someone on super-elite was around from number 10 until 22 where some of the courses were shared, both making small misses in the circle on a few controls. Definitely getting tired towards the end and let a few more errors creep in. Overall pretty pleased with how I was running considering no training. Navigationwas okay but should have visualised more of the circle on some (16, 25), checked the compass more (1, 5, 23), and made better assessments of which hills to avoid (12, 18).
Managed to beat Tom. Results seem to be about almost halving each day: 73rd, 38th, 20th. Don’t think 10th is gonna happen though!
Orienteering (POM Night Sprint) 27:00 [3] 4.0 km (6:45 / km)
Didn’t stop to read any information boards but did do a lap of the castle walls and take a drink from a water fountain.
