Orienteering (Trossachs DD Long) 1:25:03 [3] 8.0 km (10:38 / km) +715m 7:21 / km
Lovely orienteering, just not far enough!
Spent too long on the portaloo so had a rather fast run to the start. Main aim was to enjoy orienteering on an area I've long wanted to run on, and also not get caught by any juniors who beat me yesterday. I achieved both.
Falling over three times before half-way to number 1 made me think it could be quite a long day, thankfully it didn't turn out that way. Messed up 2 but started to settle into it on the way to 4 where I caught Eddie.
From there just worked my way through. Low on 7 and probably the wrong route-choice slowly executed to 9. Didn't pick up descriptions and didn't do much planning ahead so control flow was pretty non-existent though I'm not convinced that makes much difference here!
Was running up the steep hills pretty well. Saw Nick Baber on the climb to 14, but took a more curved route and couldn't relocate at the top. Minced a bit round the next few but intercepted Nick in the flat marsh on the way to 20. To 23 via 11, not as quick as I'd have liked up the hill or across the brashing+marsh, then a bit poor through the last few with a fading map.
Overall good fun. No terrible mistakes. Good running but never continously pushing. Calves weren't half as bad as yesterday and now wouldn't mind if the JK was in Scotland.
Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]
Felt like I needed some extra minutes, needed more than we had time for.
