Fell Race (Batch Bash) 28:36 [3]

Another personal worst, but didn't have much time for a warm-up to be honest. Felt good on the first climb and from the top of the second climb. In between pretty dire. But I think something is coming back. 10th. Only the winner was faster than my PB.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Orienteering race (BOC Relays Torphantrick) 35:47 [3]

No sustainable speed.

Good to my first but got scared of brashing and took a long route to my second. Lead for a bit down the path to four with Pete then Cherry then Shminty overtaking me. Poor routechoice to 5 and got slightly pulled off-line by the right-hand gaffle. Was near Carcas and Joe on the way to 7. I lost contact but properly stopped and relocated but continued to make a parallel error and went to the left-hand control.

With Kit on the way to 8. On the way to 9 I just couldn't shift any more and got very slow again. Navigationally fine but lost lots more minutes to send Matt out well down. He pulled a good one though and climbed back up to a respectable fifth somehow. Willy, feeling a bit similar to me, caught one / lost one to bring us home in fifth.

Very disappointing physical performance, but had been expecting it to be honest, hoped I would get away with it in a relay. Wish I had retired from the long to save a bit more energy for this.

Next year.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Running (BOC Long Balmoral) 2:06:00 [3]

1-8 Fast - Slight oversimplification in the circle at #1 but caught sight of Josh. Similar to 2. Must have run so close to 3 but overshot. Caught by Pete. Didn't feel the spur on the way to #5 but relocated well in the circle.

8-9 Slow - Pete ran off into the distance. Good bearing.

9-10 Medium - Over the rocks but got distracted from the path to the control

10-11 Fast - With Josh

11-12 Slow - Some walking and a terrible route choice straight from the path-bend to the control

12-13 Medium - Chloe had caught some time on me

13-16 Very slow - Considered turning round and retiring but guessed that Jonny might catch me soon which would give me motivation to run

16-20 Medium Fast - Jonny caught me and it was downhill

20-24 Slow - Some walking and some hills

24-27 Very Slow - Lots of walking

27-F Fast - Downhill and caught by Josh Dudley

Running (Parkend) 40:00 [3]

Printed out an O-map but left it somewhere. So went for a short terrain run and then did some short gentle hill reps at the end. They got my lungs working good and I included the downhill in the rep to get some better leg turnover. Not a big session but after how I have been feeling recently I am pretty pleased to have got something out of it.

Mountain Biking (Parkend) 30:00 [3]

Cool trails, as previously. Some definitely helps to have ridden them before.

Orienteering (BOK Cam & Dursley Urban) 41:00 [3]

Successfully raced Adam for a while. Impressively good courses.

Mountain Biking (Malverns) 50:00 [3]

Absolutely fricking sick quality bike ride. Climbs, steep descents, switchbacks, rocky contouring paths, cows plus beautiful sunset. Did someone transport me me to the Alps!? Fell off on some damp flat grass at one point. Final trail was linked wooded hairpins reminicent of picnic-bench in Leigh Woods.

Orienteering race (Bentley Woods) 1:03:30 [3]

After feeling about third-decent yesterday I didn't really have it today apart from a little race with RR.

A couple of laps of Billesley Common at a gentle push. Starting to feel alright. Some glute work on a trim trail feature after.

Fell Race (Wrekin Streak) 20:03 [3]

Personal worst. Thought a race might help me get some mojo back. That didn't really work on the way up, couldn't push and probably summited in about sixth. But on the lower slopes on the way down however I managed to race Simon Adney as he beat me last year. Only 1m45 slower than three years ago! Terrible

Mountain Biking (Minchinhampton Common) 45:00 [3]

Tried to go on the Wrekin yesterday but realised I’d left my shoes in Thursday’s car-park. Thankfully they were still there.
