Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Cross Country (Birmingham League Wolves) 35:00 [3] 9.0 km (3:53 / km)

Capitalised by feeling good on Monday night by not running for three days so was not sure at the start how this one would go. Ankle has been sore, and knees have been on the verge of giving out for the last couple of weeks, NEED TO DO SOME ROLLING.

Anyway, set off at a decent pace, somewhere between Paul Ward and Rob Nash and near Josh Burrows. A really good course for orienteers; with twists and turns round small fields, up banks, through hedges and woods, plus a couple of ditch crossings. Very convoluted and confusing however.

Just tried to maintain a decent effort for the first lap and less ground lost to the front runners than a couple of weeks ago. Plan was to back-off a little on the second lap which I did but was still overtaking a few (including Josh Burrow and Ryan Heath) while getting overtaken by some others. On the last lap it was a bit like the first - maintaining the pace in a group including Conner Carson, a Wolves & Bilston runner and a Northampton. Legs started to feel it half-way round and dropped back a bit. Would have like to have pulled some speed out at the end (like at Loughborough) and got them back but at least I didn't get overtaken.

Pleased that I'm feeling better again, disappointed my legs were tired on the last lap (maybe yesterday didn't help), should be able to do some more overtaking toward the finish with some more intervals. Position was 57th which is behind all of my finishes last season apart from the one where I'd done Parkrun and a fell race just before.

Telford AC are demoted for next season :-(
