Orienteering (Hallett BOK Training) 2:00:00 [3]

On Llangattock Common next to the JK areas. Planned and hung by the Halletts. Got a lift with Matt and Abi with Pete Maliphant.

Control Pick 1 - Overshot a lot, and bearings were poor
Compass Bearings - Much, much better on 1:15000. Focused on getting the bearing right (with the housing) and then looking up for features, often only just in time. The contours take a while to get used to.
Long Short - To get onto the flatter stuff on top. Fairly easy just looking ahead. But lost concentration a couple of times and drifted off course.
Control Pick 2 - Trying to read the mining detail at a faster pace and on 1:10000 again. Good just one mistake but could have been smoother though it was tricky.
Corridor - Didn't have time to do Simplification so did this instead.

Really quality short day's training. Nice underfoot. Great weather when it wasn't spitting hail at you. Started off steady but felt I had a decent-ish pace by the end of the day. Dropped my start squad dibber somewhere out there :'-( Went over on my L ankle hard a one point.
