Orienteering: training 1:28:00 [3] 7.5 km (11:44 / km)
10c shoes: Inov8 ORoc

What better way to celebrate Sweden's national day than by going orienteering? GOF training at a World Cup area from 1986. The old map had hand-drawn control descriptions. Luckily we had a new map, though the print quality wasn't great. The course was good, mass start with gaffling, but in my present shape I was defeated about two-thirds of the way around, and took ages to do the last third. The map archive seems to be down at the moment so no map for now.

District sprint champs. 5th, 1.16 down on Lina. It was a fun course. In parts I wished I could run faster, but I guess you always want that!

Note

No WOC2012 for me.

This weekend I was meant to be running at the Irish WOC trials in Scotland. I took the decision not to race. I've had the two emotionally/mentally toughest months of my life the past two months, for reasons that I won't go into here. After the Euro Champs I realised that I need my energy to get myself back on track, rather than trying to prepare for a World Champs. I would hate to race at the World Champs knowing that I couldn't give the preparation 100%, and right now I can't do that. The decision was still hard to take, as I think that I'm still in good enough shape to make the Irish girls team. Instead, I'll enjoy getting out running and jogging in the lovely Swedish summer. And I'll enjoy cheering on all my friends that will be running at WOC :)

I'm thinking of a non-orienteering holiday. The idea is slightly scary (I mean, what do you pack? What do you do all day?) but watch this space :)

Don't want to look at when the last time I did a strength session was. This will hurt tomorrow!
