I often go well in relays but I suspected my health was going to be similar to previous day. In fact I went much better though not near 100%. My nav was spot on throughout which partly compensated. I did have head to head but couldn't keep up with a Scot & English runners...but I had actually passed the English guy when he made mistake and had made a lot of time on the Scot on the first control so in the end I had 2nd fastest time on my leg.

Doesn't seem right to select 5 for intensity when I was so slow, but I really struggled, walked the uphills even stopping, even walked some of the downhills. My heart I could feel beating strongly throughout. I was first M45 to start and 2nd last to finish.

i had feeling I wasn't going to be 100% but my improvement since Wed had been quite good, so I thought I may as well try at start and maybe i'll go OK. The start was steep uphill and it wasn't long before I red-lined and I don't think I recovered from that for the rest of the course. and as I was in such oxygen debt my navigation was poor as well.

I finished which was really my goal considering the previous week
