Really enjoyable outing at Carlingford, but bulk of course was in cloud and I spent about 30 minutes longer than I should have done, but probably never enjoyed a bad performance more! First technical orienteering since Shamrock and I was managing fairly well for first half, but was all at sea and rudderless for 11 & 12 and thereafter my navigation was loose. Circle navigation was fine but it was getting to the circle that was the issue. I couldn't find major catching features! Kept having to clear the magnifier and since it only magnifies a small part, I struggled to get an over view on the longer legs. Main aim was to get back in one piece ahead of next weekend, so job done!

Myself and Zoe went to Djouce Woods to get my head into 1:10 scale and woodland ahead of VHI. Did brown course from few years back, using a map much older! But so much has been felled, or windblown, or open areas turned into fight that I had to take couple large detours. Zoe did the Green course finishing just a few minutes earlier than me.

Planned 6 x 1k, but legs screamed no as I headed into 5th, so cut my losses. First 2 into wind. Then turned around and did 3rd too quick.
