Joe set a nifty leg from the start to control 1. It took me an hour to reach it. I started out on my own with no particular plans, but en route to 1, I saw Charlie! He was climbing out of some blueberry bushes as I was headed along a trail. He is always good company. We were with others at times also that made for good company. At first, Barb Bryant stayed with us for a little while. And then intermittently throughout the course we traveled with Sam Levitin.
This was my first time doing the Highlander, but it was also my first time at Harriman. The park is spectacular. Much of the terrain was challenging. But if you can find a trail through the blueberries, or manage to sneak a look around at the top of a mountain, it is quite satisfying.
