This was my first time at an HVO meet. I really enjoyed the map today. I felt like I navigated a little better than I have been. I did make a conscious effort to go slower when I thought I needed to. It helps the navigation, but it's slow. I still made some mistakes such as at controls 3, 5, and 7 was the biggest. Going to three there were two stone walls on the map parallel to each other, I hadn't noticed that until later. Once I figured that out I was fine. My instinct told me that I hadn't gone far enough, but I ignored it. I think later on in the course, I listened to it more. There were two other people looking for 5 at the same time as me, that always messes me up. And on the way to seven I got on the wrong trail without realizing it. Thanks to Ian, I thought within a much shorter time than last, that I needed to relocate and that fixed it. I think it was good. I still think that I am not improving much though.

I have woken up late the past two mornings, but I couldn't pass up a run. I met up with a couple of other runners around the field. I managed to stay ahead of them for a while which felt pretty good. Then a few minutes later they caught me and I think they were really going close to their easy pace. It was interesting to have some pushing though.
