Running 48:00 [3]

Rain cleared up for a bit so I went jogging around the logging roads near our cousins house. Sun came out and the clouds went away, ended up being perfect running weather.

Orienteering 52:08 [3] 5.5 km (9:29 / km)

Picked strawberries all afternoon with the family (160 pounds) and in the evening we went to do some orienteering in the Kitee area. Legs felt horrible, probably from all the squatting I did in the afternoon, also I didn't stretch or warm up at all before running. Lesson learned. Good thing was my run was very clean due to my slow running. Somehow managed to finish the course with the fastest time so that was nice

Hike 5:35:00 [3]

Hiked from Kilpisjärvi to the Three-Country Cairn. The hiking around here is so nice!!!!! We even got the pleasure of getting stuck in the middle of a herd of traveling reindeer! They smell so good!!! Legs are tired and my feet hurt... it was a good day. When we got back to the station we ate dinner and jumped into THE Kilpisjärvi for somewhat of a swim. It only lasted 10 seconds but it was freezing cold and totally worth it.

Hike 5:15:00 [3]

First hike in Kilpisjärvi. Hiked to the top of Saana and then on the way back we did some exploring off the side of Saana until we came upon the trail that goes around it. we walked aroud that and then we walked back to Kilpisjärven biologinen asema where we're staying. Was attacked by hundreads of mosquitoes but it's such a nice area ;the landscape is so beautiful

Other (Adventure Race) 5:50:00 [4] 48.28 km (7:15 / km)

Gps tracks for the Mesikämmen Challenge adventure race thing I did with my cousin and her friend. Our team was Boreal Multisport Team.
http://www.tulospalvelu.fi/gps/20150718mesikRento/...

Started off with a plain corridor-o type thing around the start area. After that we moved on to canoe orienteering, where at control cp4 we had to carry our canoe across about 250 meters of land. Then we did some controls by foot until returning to our canoe and finishing at the Ähatari Zoo. The next section involved us running through the zoo to get 7 controls, and then we hopped on our mountain bikes. cp18 was our first control in the "swim" section where we used boards of Finnfoam to swim around to some islands. Also got to run and swim through a swamp so that was fun! The rest of the way was all biking until cp29 where I was somewhat selected (more like yelled at) to jump off a dock into water to get to a floating control in the lake. Thought a giant lake monster was going to jump out and eat me. Made me swim faster, but I made it out alive so, we all good. Then from there my front tire proceeded to fall off twice... woo! The last control before the finish was in a cellar thing that I crawled in to get. Then the sprint to the finish where I was horrified that my tire would fall off again. In the end we had to skip 4 controls in order to make it to the finish in time.

There were a few "quests" along the way where we had to do different things. The first was at cp2 where I had to climb up a rope to a control hanging off a bridge from our canoe. First attempt failed because my feet kept slipping off the rope but I got it the second time around. Got the second quest at cp7 where I had to climb on one of my teammates back to climb up a tree to get a control. At the control was another orienteering map that had one control point on it which we ran to, and there was a pavement track and some kids bike/car things that my teammates pushed me in as I navigated through the pavement course. Quest 3 was where we had to run through old military trenches until we found our control; those were all the instructions we got, and after a few minutes of searching we got it. Last quest was an obstacle course through a playground.

Wish there was more running and I gotta lay off the road bike and work on my mountain biking. Overall super fun experience, would do again!

Running 48:04 [3] 5.74 mi (8:22 / mi)

Easy run today. Had a total elevation gain of a whole 41 feet!!!! Wowza! Also ran past some playgrounds that looked super fun. I was tempted to stop and help myself to them but I resisted the urge.

Running 54:23 [3] 7.02 mi (7:45 / mi)

Other (Climbing ) 1:25:00 [3]

went to Oulun Kiipeilykeskus with Elina, Will and Kaisa to do some indoor climbing. Really nice place, lots of fun, my arms are tired.

Other (mountain biking) 1:11:10 [3] 10.88 mi (6:32 / mi)

Did some mountain biking with Kaisa to practice for an adventure race I'm doing with her and one other person on Saturday. Not sure if you could call it mountain biking because Oulu doesn't have mountains...or hills at that, but yeah! Had some trouble when the trails turned to all sand but I got the hang of it after a little. Also practiced mountain bike orienteering because that's what we'll have to do in the race. Pretty excited for it!

Trail Running 57:51 [3] 5.43 mi (10:39 / mi)

Did the first 3 miles a a quicker pace but the trail was quite rocky and hard to run on. Then jogged/ walked the rest with Kaisa. The park we went to was really nice; there was a lot of swamp everywhere.

(rest day)

Kaisa had to buy a new table so we drove to Sweden to go to IKEA. Then when we got back, I built the table. If anyone ever needs help assembling IKEA furniture, I'm your girl. Virtually a pro

Orienteering 38:02 [5] 4.3 km (8:51 / km)

Day 3 @ Kainuun Rastiviiko. Ran really well today. The terrain was completely different from the past two races so I felt much more confident while I was running. Probably made a little over a minute of mistakes which isn't too bad. None of my mistakes were big, all just small bobbles. Glad to have a good run and be in the mix with the others.

Orienteering 1:25:00 [4]

Hard course today, probably the hardest I've ever done. Stuggled a lot the whole time. Ugh. Features weren't as distinct as I thought they'd be so that made it harder for me to keep map contact and choose good routes. Had to go slow pretty much the whole time but still had trouble with most controls.

Orienteering race 1:15:00 [5]

Spiked all controls except for one. Unfortunately the one I didn't spike was a big mistake.

Orienteering warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Orienteering 1:17:00 [3]

@Kalevan Rasti relay. Elina and I did the open course because we didn't have a relay team to race with. The course was surprisingly difficult and not so surprsingly wet. Running in wet moss is quite tiring for those of you who don't know. Also ran waist deep in water a few times because there were no other options. There were a lot of people running in the woods which was good for me because I need to work on not getting distracted. Had a pretty clean run but I should have planned some of my attackpoints better. Nice to be in the woods despite the miserable weather.
