Ran the varsity 1600 and I got a PB! First race of the season and it's already going pretty well :) today was supposed to be a "workout day" so my coach put me into three events.

Bearing practice with a partner and was shadowed. We would switch off between controls. The only information we had were the details around the controls. It was fun.

Sprint! It was fast and I really tried to read ahead of my controls so I was continuously running. The controls weren't hard but it was really good practice.

I had a great time this weekend and look forward to more training like this. I got lots if great tips and it's so much fun when you get to train with other orienteers! Let's do it again!

First I did a bearing course, then I did a contour course, then I did a route choice course with a shadow.
Did a memory course with a partner. One person would memorize the control and the other would follow with the map. Last thing was a peg relay which was super fun.

Elina and I ran to the middle school track and did some laps there. The snow melted but the whole track was covered with water. Then we ran on the roads near our house and did a map reading exercise while we ran. First Elina read out loud the first half of a course, and I did the second half. We read the features, attack points and catching features as if we were running the course.
