11 AM

Running warm up/down 16:00 [2] 1.3 mi (12:19 / mi)

Warmed up then there was a line at the start with someone who would have passed me during the race right behind me, so I just extended my warmup.
12 PM

Orienteering race 17:50 [5] 2.4 km (7:26 / km)

ROC Sprint Series #1 at RIT

Weather was 45 and light rain. Perfect conditions for me which contributed to an okay run.

A few mistakes

1--> 2 misread the map and was looking north of the roadway for the tree.

6--> 7 just really confused about control placement relative to OOB.

9 --> 10 Almost went down into the courtyard between the buildings, but I caught myself.

~1:00 of error. Median line was very volatile throughout the meet; I ended up above it but we were 1-2 slower runners away from me being well above it.

Edit: AP calculates zero error. Perhaps these bobbles are not significant enough to be "errors", but my placing in these legs indicates that at least some time was lost.
1 PM

Orienteering race 38:50 [5] 6.0 km (6:28 / km)

Score-O. Totally ran by control #15 and had to go back to get it. That's a bummer. Rather have my big mistake in the score-o than the sprint though.

This was my first "urban" race ever, and I enjoyed it a bit more than I thought I would. I was probably running faster than an "forest" race so decisions had to be made quicker, although the map wasn't super complicated.
