orienteering (Sprinttttt!) 17:49 [4] *** 3.38 km (5:16 / km)
ahr:172 spiked:14/15c shoes: New Mizuno wave riders

I think straight line was 3.1k.

Giovanni's Park-O. I wouldn't have guessed you could make that technical of a course from the map, but there were several good route choices and quick turns on trails. I lost about 20 seconds on the first control by the baseball diamonds.

Running (mostly trails/soft surfaces) warm up/down 17:09 [2]

Cooled down w Dan. Was going to finish up the map I started during hills yesterday, but I grabbed the wrong one:(

cycling 45:00 [2]

My butt hurts:(
Other than that, cycling in Boston is easier than expected! The cars are really nice, and they mostly move over to the next lane when they're passing.

Google says my total was 17 miles, and I'm logging about half because I coasted most of the downhills.

Running (terrain) (Hills!!!!) 7:30 [4] 0.57 mi (13:10 / mi)
shoes: New Mizuno wave riders

Terrain hills with Alex at Hammond Pond! These were super fun, and I brought a map from my new map stash. Almost caught up on armchair!
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Am8fm...

I totally see what Alexei means when he says I remember the map as points and not lines. I would remember there was a hill or something next on the leg, but when I got tired, I would draw it oriented wrong. Or if it was a point feature, I'd draw the wrong point feature. When I wasn't looking at the map, I tried visualizing the part of the leg I'd just read, and that seemed to help. That's a good goal for the next time I do this exercise.

I was impressed, though, that I could memorize an entire leg in such a short time. I usually only do one or two during a terrain loop, and those take like 6 minutes.

One note was that I was super dehydrated this morning. I didn't bring my water bottle to work yesterday because I didn't want to carry it in my bag while I ran home, and then I didn't drink enough at dinner, and then I was thirsty at bedtime but was too tired to get back up to get water, then I was thirsty before we ran, but I was too busy eating to get something to drink. That was stupid.

Running (terrain) 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Recovery, down the hill. Not counting the time spent drawing each leg.

Running (mostly trails/soft surfaces) 28:36 [2] 2.23 mi (12:49 / mi)

Waking up.
8 AM

cycling (commute) 30:00 [2]

It's about a 30-minute ride each way to the Janji office, and I decided to log half of it. The uphills are super hard and make my legs burn, and the downhills I just coast.
7 PM

core/legs 15:00 [1]

Met Naomi at Crystal Lake for core. We were gonna go lake running, but her knee swelled up again:(

Note

Plan for the week:

Tues: Run home from Harvard, 6 mi. Run through Hammond Pond on the way.
Wed: Morning workout, possibly with Alex.
Thurs: Park-O, bike to and from.
Fri: Workout after work with Izzy? (or during, depending on weather and my schedule.)
Saturday: Try to get in some woods stuff. Terrain loops with armchair map?
Sunday: More woods! Maybe I could bike to Franklin Park and do Alex's O-tervals.

Running (mostly hard surfaces) 52:43 [3] 6.02 mi (8:45 / mi)
shoes: New Mizuno wave riders

Ran home from work for the first time!!! It was super fun, and the weather was great:) I was wearing a tank top at 7pm, and it wasn't hot at all!

Brought the map I used on the T this morning and counted climb for each of the legs.

core/legs 5:00 [1]

Lab abs!!! First Sarah and I tried some stuff with the big yoga ball that's in lab, and then we got Jason to join us for crunches and plank-hamstring-curls. Tim and Michael were being lame and didn't join us.

Running (mostly hard surfaces) 47:25 [3] 4.99 mi (9:30 / mi)

Season break is over!!! Did a loop around the reservoir and back. Felt good! I feel really mentally refreshed.

Still sore from lab abs, ugh. Hills hurt, so im glad to be living on the ground floor:)

Note

Just registered for COC's!

soccer 10:00 [1]

Helping a friend from home get ready for her soccer game tomorrow!!! Only logging 10 minutes, but we did lots of drills and I got to shoot the ball a bunch because she's a goalie.

I was reeeeeeeally feeling those lunge exchanges from yesterday. I think if we hadn't had lab beer tasting right before lab abs, I wouldn't have done as many. Thennn today, I drop-kicked a ball that accidentally hit my shin, not even hard, and made a huge swollen blue welt. I think it hit the remnants of a bruise I got from team trials. I am so sore and I just want to lay in bed!

core/legs 30 [3]

Stopped by lab, and Sarah convinced me to do pushups with her again! I managed 10.

Running (mostly hard surfaces) 30:00 [3] 3.33 mi (9:01 / mi)
shoes: New Mizuno wave riders

some amount of warmup and cooldown, don't feel like looking it up now. I also don't feel like logging my meat and iron anymore. It's too hard to keep track of:(

More importantly, Tim just showed me the secret tenth-floor shower! So now I can ride my bike and run to work! It used to be a monkey lab, but then the guy in charge got fired for falsifying data, and then they re-did it and it's suuuuper nice. :)
