strength 32:00 [1]
shoes: barefoot

Did some more vocabulary review this time.

All my icing and rest is FINALLY starting to pay off. I walked around today with my mom, and my knee didn't hurt once. I'm still icing, taking ibuprofen, and using the ace bandage, so I hope to be fully recovered by Conference this Friday.

strength 21:20 [1]
(injured) shoes: barefoot

Did 2 sets of strength today instead of one. I reviewed some SAT vocabulary at the same time since I'm taking the test next Saturday.

Note

The plan at the meet today was to warm up and then see how I felt, but my knee was hurting just walking over to the portapotties, so I decided it was better not to do anything.
I got to talk to the WashU and MOBap coaches, and Andy was also there. The MOBap coach is also their trainer, and he thinks my IT band is what's bothering me. He showed me some stretches that mostly stretch it up by my hip, and he says that it helps relieve some of the stress down by my knee. He also recommended the strap above the knee, which is what Crowe uses.

I'm gonna try to get a doctor's appointment during the week.

Note
(injured)

Knee sore today; I actually noticed it at school, so that's a step in the wrong direction. I took Advil before I went to school, and then Keller told me not to run.
I was kind of restless and was hoping to go for a swim tonight (Ali's working at the nat), but Keller said I might make other muscles sore, my dad said I need complete rest, and my mom said when she has knee problems, swimming makes them worse.
I got really bored, so now we're watching Willie Wonka.
I don't think running tomorrow's a good idea. My kneecap's still a little puffy, and there's some tenderness on the outside corner. What is going on?
I hope I can survive the next 2 days without doing anything.

running 57:59 [3] 6.56 mi (8:50 / mi)
(injured) shoes: New Balance 767

My knee started hurting when we were almost back already, so I just stopped and walked. I'm being really cautious, and Keller said I should probably just do the warmup tomorrow if it keeps bothering me.
This is really a bummer. I haven't yet had an injury that was caused by running, but now this is feeling like an injury. I think it's a muscle or something, because my knee's less flexible.

modified exercises again (side crunches instead of v-ups, doing one leg at a time for knee exercises)

Beforehand, I noticed a slight puffiness on my kneecap, which has never happened to me except from hitting it on something.

running warm up/down 34:03 [3] 3.78 mi (9:01 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 767

to and from Flynn Park

running intervals 20:34 [4] 4.8 km (4:17 / km)
shoes: New Balance 767

6x800 at Flynn Park, 2:00 standing rest between each.
pace was supposed to be 3:35 for the first 3, then 3:25 for the 4th and 5th, then 3:10.
I'm blaming this one on Keller again.

He went fast on several, and I followed him because I don't like running in a big group and we'd been 10 seconds slow on the first one. Also, I had no feel for the pace and didn't know where the halfway point was. Oh well.
The 2nd to last was intentionally fast on his part, because Ali had to leave after that to go to SAT tutoring. I felt really slow and tired on the last one, especially on the hills, but Crowe says the purpose of the varying paces is so we can feel bad at the end, just like we will in a race.

running 57:02 [3] 6.46 mi (8:50 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 767

Hot again today. Knee started hurting on the side, not the one that goes away when I loosen up. I'll ice it later.
Crowe told us it was okay to come back early, maybe a sign that we have a tough workout tomorrow? I know we're doing 800's, but I don't know how fast.

running hills (Art Hill) 4:56 [5]
shoes: New Balance 767

7 hills
42(43)
42(43)
41(47)
42(49)
44(50)
43(50)
42(55)
I started out running with Julian, but he was running the recoveries faster than me. Nick passed me right before the last hill, but then he let me pass him without a fight during the hill. It was pretty hot today.

running 1:07:59 [3] 7.5 mi (9:04 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 767

warmup, cooldown, and recovery. I had to try to run back home in time for a doctor's appointment, but I was super tired. My blood was pounding in my ears so that all the cars driving by sounded funny until about halfway back. It reminded me of the preseason since it was so hot. I just relaxed, and I ended up only 5 minutes late.

Note

20 min. easy courses on CF, working on my flow and changing directions quickly.
