Rogaine race (Lake Macquarie Rogaine) 6:05:00 [4] 28.0 km (13:02 / km) +917m 11:12 / km
ahr:132 max:164

1090 points for 3rd overall and 2nd in mixed (60 points late penalty)
1160 points were first and 2nd .. so not too far off



Pretty good start, about 8 teams in front heading South for #31, but they all went bush early from an unmarked track while we waited until we spotted the control and got there first.
managed to stay in front to 32, getting overtaken about 2/3 of the way to 72 joining a pack of teams.
very slow from 72 to 26 losing the pack half way towards 81, alone for the rest of the day.

#37 at about 2 hrs

minor error near 53, the tracks didn't match the map, quick break for food 1/2 way up the hill to 50

tracks from 50-54 were the nicest on the course, very soft underfoot, not too steep.

so far so good, excellent speed on the tracks, but slow off the tracks .. some cramping was threatening at 44 due to climbing over the fallen timber. decided to skip 36 to make sure we got to the hash house before 4hrs

looked like an easy trip home in 2 hrs .. (not)

something went wrong with the GNW track towards 46 ..
got dark just before 90 and with 45 mins to go thought we were ok, but slow at night with the tracks from 30 to 21 .. so back just over 5 mins late.

Orienteering race (ML5) 46:40 [4] 6.5 km (7:11 / km)

couldn't find the first control, looked at SW edge ratehr than NW edge (I was facing W not N and .. lets just say my head wasn't switched on until control 2-3), Patrick got me out of trouble starting 2 mins after me.

rest was good except a few weird tracks/detours from 12-13

Lachlan did another VE by himself, he had errors on the first and last controls. I gave him my GPS logger (by placing it in his hoodie pocket) he was unable to give it back at the end as it had gone missing .. oops.. I jogged the VE course backwards looking for it with no luck, asked him to recount his steps for the fist and last control, found it in the middle of the rockface near my #1 control, will work out a better system next time. .
