Bumble "Brown" course (2 windows). I was going to run one of the forested areas to the NW, closest to the mandatory control #1, and then head down to the sprint-style window across the way, but instead I went for the loop through the two forested windows, up on the left and down on the right. No dead running, but that decision probably sealed my fate, because it turned out to be about a mile longer, even with the dead run down to the sprint window. It was good orienteering, though, particularly in the northern window of the two (F-G-H-I-J, and that's the order I did them in). In the first window I originally thought N would be first, but I couldn't see a way in through the thorny crap. it was a trail run from O to N though, so I went O-N-M-L-K.

I only had trouble with J, my last window control. I came in from the trail at the base of the hill in the field to the NW, and must have gotten on the wrong stream. Went too far, backtracked down another stream, came to a junction, turned around, and there it was on a "cliff" (a boulder with a vertical side).

Thinking about it now, I kind of wish I had done the sprint as a third window. I was in good position for it, and was feeling pretty strong (contra peggyd's comment). And although I generally find sprints less appealing, it would have made a good finish to the run, and full immersion in this unusual Bumble terrain.

Shorts day. Sunny and 46. The HR trace looks to be right on today. Don't know why for sure, but one thing is I've been pre-moistening the contact strips on either side of the center block.

It's been a while. . . haven't felt much like going out in what was basically a 3-day snow/freezing rain event.
