Same as Thursday. Also the same GPS deviation in the same place. GPS says 3.9, but I'm putting in 4.0. 33 degrees, sunny with a little breeze.

If I cross over at the end of the field and run down Leslie St. past Glenn's house, I bring this route back up to 4 miles, and add a pretty good hill on the way back up. But there's still one place where the GPS got off, on Homewood Pkwy.

Road running 35:41 [3] 3.81 mi (9:22 / mi) +62m 8:55 / mi

Midday, 32 degrees. According to my watch, this run used to be 3.9 miles, now it's down to 3.8. What's up with that?

Road running 47:58 [3] 5.13 mi (9:22 / mi) +110m 8:46 / mi

Mid-morning, 41 degrees, cloudy. There was enough of a breeze that I was sweaty running with it and chilly running into it.

PWNF (Pine Grove area) Red. I did a lot of walking after the 4th control. Nothing left in the legs, given yesterday's effort.

I was a little disappointed in the course setting. There's a lot of nice technical terrain here, but the course didn't take advantage of it.

#1 and 2 were good legs and good placements (the leg from start to 1 was the best leg on the course). #5 and 6 were good, but repetitive: run along the road and attack to the big reentrant. The area around 8 was underutilized. I would rather have skipped 6 and had some nice changes of direction in the wild area away from the big stream basin. As it was, we could ignore the subtle features and take a bearing to the big ones.

#3 (stream junction), #9 (deep reentrant), #10 (marsh) and #11 (ditch) were all orange-level controls. Having to run long legs to get to those controls was not very inspiring.
