Inspecting control locations in Greenbelt Park for the February meet. I had put out markers back in November, and then a couple of weeks later on a test run I ran right through a homeless guy's encampment that I hadn't seen before. No one was there at the time, but the place looked lived in. I wanted to mark the area as out-of-bounds, but didn't know exactly where it was, so I went back another time to scout it out. He was there. We talked. It turned out he'd seen the markers, and could tell me exactly where they were. He knew about orienteering, too. I told him I was trying to make sure the runners avoided his place, and he pointed out that that was impossible, since I had him on a direct line between markers. He suggested I move them all to the west of him. That seemed pretty logical, so I reworked the courses along those lines (only Red and Blue went through there anyway) and took down the offending markers today. I didn't see him this time, having intentionally avoided his camp, but I expect he'll notice in short order. I also rearranged the White course in a different part of the park and inspected the new legs. It's a lot better now.
