Rumford Whitecap. A group of 11 (Tom, Florence, Addie, Mei-An, Amanda, Lynette, Shirley, Adrian, Ethan, Rob, Veronica). Up the Starr trail and back down the Red trail, with lunch at the summit and extensive blueberrying on the ledges on the way down.
I have a renewed appreciation for this hike. It's so nice out on the open granite flats, a truly arctic vista at a relatively low elevation. 360-degree views from the top, including a lot of new wind power turbines. I could identify Mts. Washington, Adams, Madison, Goose Eye, Old Speck, Baldpate, Puzzle, Plumbago, Dimmock, Black Mountain.
It was a hot day, full sun on the bare rock, very little breeze. We were slightly under-watered.
