just about managed to get a cycle in, although the day was quite compressed as I only crawled out of bed at 11am.

climbs feeling quite tough and legs tired. feeling happier towards the end on the flat. pedaling is becoming a bit more natural now, although my bike handling is still pretty ropey.

Joe's BG attempt leg 3.

Really challenging conditions, claggy (and dark) to begin with, then from Rossett Pike the wind really picked up and the intermittent rain become more continuous and quite heavy at times. From Bowfell to Scafell I became quite cold, put all my clothes on and thankfully Matt was there to look after Joe. Finally warmed on the climb to Scafell and then once down off the ridge.

Nav wise overall I was happy with how I did, although lots of improvement. I was on the GPS most of the time, especially at the start where it was challenging to see my feet properly in the clag in the dark. Missed Steel Fell slightly to the L, pleased to nail Calf crag and Sergeant man, lost a bit of time climbing a bump before Harrison stickle. I should have been more forceful in trying to stop us go down the tourist path down from Harrison stickle to pick up the grassy slope to the North. Missed the last part of the line up Bowfell, got dragged off to the right and lost time faffing below crags.

We dropped time on the dark bits, climbs and rocky bits to lose about an hour overall on the leg vs schedule. It was just so hard to keep speed up when visibility was limited and everywhere and everyone was wet through. Two/three clothes stops and one comfort break added to our time. Joe did well to keep going in the conditions and not worry about the big picture too much.

Matt and I were doing the numbers covertly and knew it was going to be challenging to finish from about half way on the leg, but we risked overcooking it on the climbs if we tried to make time up there. The wind then picked up again on leg 4 and it wasn't to be, but all good training for the next attempt.
