Orienteering race 1:48:52 [2] *** 8.2 km (13:17 / km) +340m 11:00 / km
16c

Blue at Briones. I started off the day hurting and it only got worse as I ran. My left knee especially seems to have some sort of problem. I really didn't push it this time, but I'm not sure I could have anyway. Navigation was fine, no errors and I never was lost but I did choose several slightly suboptimal routes losing 10-30 seconds each time. Overall, not an impressive showing.

Running 34:04 [3] 3.5 mi (9:44 / mi) +200m 8:16 / mi

Foothills short loop with Jason. I am slowly recovering from months of activity. It has been almost exactly six months since I last ran. Amazing how the time just slips away from you. I seem to have lost a couple minutes on my time when I was in better shape, which is not bad considering. Certainly this was way better than I could do a couple years ago before I started running. Now if only I can keep this up though...

Orienteering race 32:43 [4] ** 3.1 km (10:33 / km) +175m 8:14 / km
18c

Sprint 1 (North) at Coyote Hills. A decent result given how out of shape I am. I managed to keep running and navigate well enough. My navigation was certainly bad but this map was easy enough that I didn't make any real mistakes, just wasted time here and there.

Orienteering 28:45 [3] ** 2.6 km (11:03 / km) +120m 8:59 / km
17c

Sprint 2 (south) at Coyote Hills. Now I was tired and we hadn't gotten enough time to rest between races. So I couldn't run fast enough. I was also rather slow navigating the first four controls. They were very cool since, although they were on land, the fastes routes to them crossed what was marked as marsh/water but was in fact bone dry at the end of a California summer. Actually somewhat difficult to figure out what was mapped as land vs water and so how to navigate. Definitely fun, even given the quality of the terrain.

Soccer 1:15:00 [2]

My first game back at Stanford. I'm definitely out of shape, but it was great to be back.

Kayaking 1:30:00 [1]

On Long Island.

Biking 1:30:00 [1]

Long slow bike ride (~17 mi) with Kirsten and Rafi on Long Island.

Swimming 30:00 [2]

It was really more like playing around in the water except high intensity. In fact my calf cramped up, mostly due to a lot of running through the water and dragging Joanna upstream against a strong current. Some of this could also be called water football.
