Peaceful Valley Orienteering Race - Red

I ran a great race! I was moving well through the forest and other than a couple of controls that I didn't spike and hence hesitated my way into them I had no problems with navigation. Except for once.

When I was leaving #8 I began to read the map from 9 to 10. It was an easy mistake to make because the beginning of 8 to 9 closely resembles 9 to 10 terrain wise. The bearing was even similar enough to not raise any red flags. Once I realized I'd made a mistake I began searching around to relocate and found my #17. Once I realized my mistake I had no troubles anymore.

I did loose 5 minutes on that mistake which is huge! If you take 5 minutes off my time that would put me at 1:07:34 which is right up there with the 1st and 2nd place runners who were only at 1:06:something. Good to know I can still do this stuff...

Easy recovery run. I was hoping to make it up to Balanced Rock but I wisely turned back early because it feels like I've picked up a case of the dreaded PF in my right foot. I'm currently treating it with a frozen Petanque ball and a beer. Hopefully I can nip it in the bud! I also ran into Alex and Maddie!
