Red course - a good start on easy controls then two screw ups on #4 and #5.
I even knew 4 would be a challenge and came at it cautious and deliberate but it took three attacks :(.
I did great on #9 reading the topo. I was a bit hesitant moving to the spur heading NE as it seemed further away than I imagined.
got caught up in new bike trails that dumped me on the main trail farther north than I thought I was.
My other big blunder was #13.
I decided to run straight at it but after 100 paces I had veered west to the trail. someone ran by me and I followed for too many steps. This put me past my mark. Additionally the clue was a spur so I was looking on top of spurs. I actually was 10 feet from the control at one point (with Petr) and we both moved south in search of the control. After reattacking, I ended up on the same spur saying 'I was here before, but there's the deer stand' . Halimah was right there and said I was really close. Good thing, or I may have darted off in a new direction. I was not looking for the control at the foot of a spur (which is where it was)
Ran straight at 14 as nothing looked better and I was trying to make up time (but couldn't keep up with Petr.
A very cautous route to 15 and a slight overrun on 16.
