Well, I'm still learning mine. I should not have run Red today. I just don't have the conditioning for it. I would have been much more happy on green. The up side of running red was that I had the fastest Red times to Ctrl #5 and 6 which were way over on the east side of the map. But that made me mostly walk to 7 as it was all uphill.
Botched #8 (Green 6) I was 20m from the control and walked away from it because I missed seeing the rootstock symbol inside the ctrl circle. I managed to relocate off the permanent control marker.
Completely blew #12 Running the 11-12 leg w/ Scott Thatcher. I was high, he was low (because we didnt have the same control) but when I saw him running in the opposite direction, I saw his control and ran to it, punched it and realized that was my #13. Now I had to run back up the hill and went in the wrong direction. after 10 minutes I ended back at ctlr #13 to relocate again, and back up the hill for #12. Then I got the fastest Red time to #13 (it was my 3rd time there) I had no energy or motivation after that. I'm just happy I didnt MP
I could have easily cut 20 minutes of my time. I am not exicuting as well as I was at the end of last year.

Contour only map.
Really asking for a beating, I went out with Patty on this. Hopefully helping her read contours. #3 really threw us ans our pace counting was way short. I relocated off the water tank and was able to find it. Being able to pick up road grading helped us with number 6.
As we finished this I realized I gust spent 3 hours orienteering.... not unlike last Memorial Day weekend.

Happy with a number of controls (especially #3 where I had the fastest time) :) #4 went well also. Shortly after #4 I managed to find knee-high mud.

Heals did surprisingly well. I did use duct tape (not moleskin) as the blisters were already flat. I didn't want to add thickness to make the shoe too tight.
I never really thought about it before but yesterday my feet were wet by ctrl #2 and my total distance was almost 10km. That's a lot of running with wet feet.

Started with my heals duct tapes but it only lasted 10 laps. Took it easy for a few more as it felt a bit strange with the water flapping the loose skin around. But then Aqua-girl joined me in my lane and I was preoccupied with a respectable performance and not being lapped too many times.

The agony of defeat was more than coming in last (and darn it, not a horrible run but stiff competition) I couldn't find my socks when we got there so I went with just my active ankle braces and shoes. After getting all that on I found my socks but decided it was too much work to take everything off just to put socks on... big mistake. The blisters I now have on the back of my heals are the size of quarters.

If anyone is reading this and has a tip for running with this type of injury, I'm up for suggestions as I cant see them going away by this coming Sunday.

I had several legs I did very well.... and only one leg where I was beat by anyone other than a red O'er.
Very bad route choice going to 15. I tried going up the stream but the rocks were super slippery, then I should have looked for the small stream but lost track of what I was doing.
Leaving 16 I figured crossing the stream would be fastest but I ended up going for a swim (literally) The water was over my head. Every other crossing I did was ankle deep. I didnt see that coming.

Mostly happy with my orienteering today despite 2 major errors. Map contact and reading was good.
1) Felt good about the execution of this.
2) good start but I missed the control 2 times- never saw the final trail even though I crossed it 3 times. I cant believe I spent over 12 minutes on this.
3) Good rough orienteering using land forms and good AP
4) Briers pushed me a bit off course but I went through the depression and thought I had it but ended up at a charcoal terrace about 60m NE.
5)mostly happy with route and execution. Could have moved a bit quicker.
6) Through the stream, up the trail to the main road, and whats a little green for the final stretch :( steep and thick briers- but I came out on top right where I expected to so the orienteering was good.
7) This was not white woods - spent the first half of the leg trying to get to the cross-path and fought briers the whole time. good orienteering and feature recognition.
8) Good first 3/4 of leg but got pulled north at end. Made good adjustment by reading stony gully.
9) Through the stream again. Not patient enough to wait for bridge. couldnt really pick up those details on the run.
10)a bit confused until I got to the open area. But should have used the time to route #11.
11) totally missed it in the lineal 10-11-F - downloaded to a MP and thought @*#$!. Saw it was the last control and went back for it. That cost me 4 minutes. I was happy with the 1:24 time, a but upset at 1:28 but hey, I finished.

Side note: not as many hole in my thighs as FCW but they were bloodier. Had to use tweezers to remove two thorns and one tick.
