Note
(rest day)

Travel day and doctors appointment. Here is the low down.

The tendon sheath of my tibialis posterior tendon is still a little inflamed but much better than before. The pain now is that there is a small cyst, very close to the nerve that's in between the tendon and the bone. Basically too much stuff in one place. She suggested a lighter, very mild injection but I said I'd wait and do it after Europe, just in case it takes a wrong turn. After this weekend I know that my leg can hold up and not affect my racing, so I'll keep it as it is for this summer.

ahr:162 max:180 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280 (2)

Long Distance.
Went into this race excited and ready to leave it out there. I wasn’t fully warmed up by the time I started and missed #1, but then won the next leg so that all evens out :P
The terrain around 3 was really weird and lost some time hesitating there. Don’t really remember the next few CPs but once I get the Routegadget up that will help lol.
Lost time on 7 because I was hesitant going up the spur even though I didn’t need to be.
Then on 9, I thought I was further down the hill than I was and started looking for a cliff too early. A downhill blind leg is not a good time to zone out. On 10 I took my gel coming up the climb into the circle and thought that I had the end of the leg for sure but then made another bobble.
Too high on 12, but after that I picked it up and made some good time on a nice downhill.
Vilppu caught me going to 16 and we were given’er to the end.
A little sloppy for my liking but still came out with the win.

Thanks to all the organizers for a fun weekend with stellar terrain and great courses!

Orienteering race (Relay ) 29:17 intensity: (5 @0) + (5 @1) + (58 @2) + (17:14 @3) + (10:53 @4) + (2 @5) 4.58 km (6:23 / km) +175m 5:22 / km
ahr:172 max:190 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280 (2)

Relay leg 1 with Robbie and Anton!
Was dying right off the start and couldn’t keep up with the lead pack. Managed to stick with Eric Bone and was super jealous of his headlamp because the woods were DARK. Picked it up after the specatator loop for some easier controls. No mistakes and was able to pick out the forkings and spike all my controls.
Results say mp for our team but deep down I’ll still call it a win ;)

Running warm up/down 6:00 intensity: (1:13 @1) + (2:55 @2) + (1:52 @3) 0.79 km (7:36 / km) +20m 6:46 / km
ahr:149 max:178 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280 (2)

Update on my leg. It felt great after the race yesterday but then started hurting later in the day. Didn’t really feel it running today but it was sore after.
So weird.

Warmup and dynamics plus a mad uphill dash back to my bag to get my bib.

Orienteering race 44:22 intensity: (14 @1) + (2 @2) + (8:53 @3) + (33:48 @4) + (1:25 @5) 5.53 km (8:01 / km) +201m 6:47 / km
ahr:182 max:195 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280 (2)

Middle!
Wasn’t really feeling the heat until I stopped at 7 and made a mistake, maybe about 90s. Then I got quite hot and tired but managed to keep pushing. Small hesitation at 9 but other than that no mistakes!
Loved this course and terrain too! Totally feeling the hills though and the average HR of over 180bpm says that lol.

Running 5:00 intensity: (22 @1) + (1:17 @2) + (3:21 @3) 0.7 km (7:09 / km) +19m 6:18 / km
ahr:154 max:168 shoes: Brooks Launch 3

With Izzy!

First mp in like a billion years due to some ambiguity about a new fence but I’m not phased at all. Clean run otherwise, but some mega stomach issues held me back.

This bus ride brought to you by a guy who was eating trail mix and throwing all the raisins into a pile on the floor. No, he didn’t clean it up.
