Prelim C
First half of this race was great! I was reading ahead a lot across the field, and flew through the first 6 CPs. Then I misread where 7 was (I looked over on my way to 6 and didn't see it where I thought it would be) and didn't really use my descriptions again. So I took a bad route to it and then lost a few seconds searching around for it.
8-11 was good, but then the rest wasn't a flow-y as normal.
Improve on: Control descriptions (seriously) and keeping the flow, even if I slow down the pace in more technical terrain.

Oof, rough goings out there.
Lost over 3 mins on #2. I started out going perfectly in the right direction and then nothing made any sense so I looped around a bunch. Finally go the right trail and went past the CP. Quickly tried again and got it. Phew. I took a breather and then nailed 3-5. 6 I didn't look well enough at my compass and ended up farther down than planned and I had to come back uphill.
After that I hesitated on 7 and 8, but nailed all the ones after that.
After 2 I got a little panic-y and my breathing (which hadn't been great due to this cold thAT WILL NEVER LEAVE) got a little rough. Toned it down going to 3 but as the race progressed it got worse. By the end I was pretty dizzy and coughing a lot more than usual while running. I guess that was how my body told me that that was enough.

Things I learned this weekend : I need to work on my control description reading, like, a lot.
Compass is really important in a forest sprint
In more technical areas, slowing down will make it easier to get decent flow
lavender lemonade it really delicious

Thanks to Alex, Ed and the rest of the organizers for another great sprint camp!

Direction course at Magazine Beach. Really focused on refolding my map, having an exit direction and reading ahead.

Orienteering 19:55 [1] 3.5 km (5:42 / km) +3m 5:40 / km

One way street-o trough Cambridge! Super fun, and forced you go look around for all the possible legs, and even look farther than where the CP was. Cut off 5 and 6 because my calves were getting aggravated by the pavement

Orienteering 1:45 [3] 0.32 km (5:28 / km)

Stretching 5:00 [1]

Orienteering race 14:41 [5] 3.19 km (4:36 / km) +2m 4:35 / km
shoes: NB Vazee Summit

Race at North Point Park. Super fun, with some traps and bridges. Didn't read/understand my control description on #4 and went outside instead of inside, lost more than 30s. Slow out of 6 because I wasn't sure of where 7 was.
I was able to read ahead while crossing the long bridge, so I had goof flow on the last few CPs.
Things to improve on: Control description reading!!

Running warm up/down 4:30 [1] 0.65 km (6:55 / km)

Good reading ahead on these, and good looking up through the woods. Felt aggressive when off trail

Orienteering 30:00 [2] 5.47 km (5:29 / km)

ARX dogbones training. Made sure to plan well and flow through the CPs. Noticed I was turning my map at every direction change without even looking at it... I guess I've run at Churchill a few times :P

Horrible cramp in my lower abdomen while running. Maybe from all the coughing and the sore muscles in that area? Not fun. Still no coughing while running, but all hell breaks loose after.

Finally made it to TNT. I was planning on just an easy run but I decided to to anyways.
Princess point loops with turbo, Blainey, DUD and Luca. Took them at a moderate pace, nothing strenuous. My lungs felt fine and my throat was a little sore. No coughing while running but nearly coughed up a lung during the rest. Bleh, when will this stop?!

Running warm up/down 6:30 [1] 1.14 km (5:42 / km)

Tested out my new shoes today, they're great!!
