5 easy loops on Gula Stigen. Had to do a little extra at the end to make it 5k on my watch.
Tested out some different combos of anti-blister socks, glide cream and tape to see what hurt my little feetsies the least. Looks like all of the above is the best option...

Easy up until nationals at the end of the week. I felt that my RHR was a little high all day today, and definitely felt it on the run. Was definitely not a Z4 effort. Weird, but maybe I'm just tired.

JWOC relay leg 1

Wooohooo, I love relays !!

Was excited again for this race, but knew that my body was tired and that I was going to have to put in some serious work.
I had a good spot at the start line and managed to make it across the pit of death into the woods alive ! Woohoo!

Took the road route to 1 to give myself a change to read and relax. Small bobble on 3 with a few other girls as we went a little too far right. I recovered well and breezed through the next few controls. I had the long fork on 5 and led a few girls in to that one. Coming to the last control before the spectator I felt a rush of adrenalin and was pushing hard. I slowed down a bit on the second loop, trying to pull all th remaining juice from my dying legs. A little left on 9 but recovered, and then sailed (aka had a HR of 200) through the last few controls.

Another great race and a result that I'm super proud of! Also incredibly proud of Nicole and Emma for kicking butt on their legs too! Go Canada !!

JWOC Long!

Went into this race super excited and mentally ready! I was ready for some forest redemption after the middles.
I took the majority of the course just under speed and made no mistakes. Just a few hesitations on 9-10 and 14-15.
I took the longer road route on the long leg because I knew that i could go a lot faster there, get a mental break, and read ahead on the course. I honestly didn't even consider another route. It's funny to look at the difference in km split times on this leg compared to the others lol.

After the long leg I was feeling super tired and died as I trudged up two hills back to back. Pushed it as hard as I could back in and finished right at the time that I had made as my goal :)

Super happy with this race and with knowing that I can run a clean race now and again. Apparently the shortest and longest races are my things :P

JWOC Sprint

A solid race! Totally not the course I was expecting at all!

No mistakes, just a small hesitation on 16-17 and some debatable routes from start to 1 and 18-19. I opted for the route to 19 that stuck higher through the woods since I had already gone that way earlier and knew exactly where I was going... But the beach route was probably faster.

Really happy knowing I can have consistent results with the last two years even though I'm not at my physical best because of my injury this winter! Already excited for next year!

Middle B final

Urg urg urg too many huge mistakes!
Lost about 8 mins on #3 because I got off my bearing and ended up at this open-isn area that I couldn't match up on my map. I tried relocating from the road but thought I was too far right when I was too far left. I found 2 controls that were on my course later on but I didn't even think to look farther down on my descriptions to see that they were mine! Frustrating.

After that massive blow up I was orienteering aggressively and nailing all the controls until I went too low on 10.

Running harder than yesterday but need to eliminate those big mistakes.

Middle Quali 2

Started slow to get into the map and nailed all the controls up to 5. I was confidents and was looking up and visualizing well.
After that I basically just lost focus and was super tired and made sloppy mistakes. On 6 I was one re-entrant too far left so I lost some time there. I also was maybe 20m away from 8 and didn't see it and lost a heck of a lot of time there too... check the GPS, it's quite awful.

Not really a fan of this course either... According to some Swiss girls Q2 was a lot harder than 1 or 3 so that's kind of annoying.

WOC Sprint Relay Leg 1
After some drama regarding team Canada, I ended up on the lead leg - what an awesome experience!
I was more nervous here than the Quali, but still fairly calm. I knew that the course was going to be fast (probably too fast), and hilly, which was kind of intimidating, but I handled the nerves well.
Goal was to apply what I learned from the quali regarding routechoice and planning, and just push hard.

Starting out, everyone went super hella fast and I was excited too so I tried really hard to keep up which probably wasn't very wise because I was dying by the 3rd control. Those hills were basically walls with grass on them... with TV cameras at the top to get that really good "look of death" angle!

The first leg was fairly long, and threw you right into the tricky ruined castle grounds with CPs everywhere. I really looked up and got to the right one, and then nailed 2 as well. By this point I was mostly into the map, but still I little flustered from the start. I took the long climbs on 2-3 to get into the map and plan a lot.
Leg 3 was super sketch with tons of ups and downs and side hills and I saw NZL go all the way around and I debated this for a split second but then decided not to... wondering what that would have been like.
3-4 was a longer leg into the urban part. I think I took the right route, and here I tried to get the legs turning over faster. The rest of the urban part was great, with no mistakes and really good planning all along. The only small mistake was coming into 7 where I missed cutting a corner.
7-8 was good but there was a small hesitation going into 9 as to which spur I needed to go up... and then slowly make my way up. (I was dying more at this point)
On 10 I should have read my description because I hesitated going into this one as well.
After the arena passage I didn't have any troubles because we went back into the castle area where we repeated a CP and I was familiar with it all. I was so tired at this point oh my goodness - I was just trying to keep my heart from exploding from my chest.

Overall it was a clean race besides some hesitations just outside the circle. I did a good job focusing on my goals and trying to run as hard as I could. Again, the physical side wasn't super strong today but I did what I could do! This was not my favourite course ever... there were many times where I was like "you want me to go where?!" but it was a really different area and cool to run in.

Was going to run one of the public sprint races today but I had an awful sleep last night and my lower leg is bugging me just a bit so I decided to take it easy. May jog a little bit later on.

Happy Canada day!
