Rest Day Sprint!

was hoping to get into some urban stuff, but the Junior course only stayed in the old quarry, which was still really fun!
No real big mistakes, just a little compass setting issues out of 6, and 18. Some close wipeouts across the loose rocks :P
Really nice way to end the rest day along with a great game of 7 wonders! :D

note the GPS track doesn't start until halfway to control #2 because I kinda sorta forgot to start it... Faile

Day 3 at Culbin!

Good race today, except for darned Number 1. Silly mistake of not setting up my compass and focusing on an attackpoint caused some wandering around in the thick stuff. Fail with and E!
Rest of the course was great! Just a little hesitation/confidence issues on #8.
Could have taken the trail to #6, but the woods were alright so I just ran as fast as I could :P
Compass bearings and speed work again today, as well as relocating quickly at #1.
need a little work on my route choices and choosing better attackpoints.

Day 2 at Carse of Ardersier! ....Sounds like the name of a new Muse song... ;)

Pretty clean run today! Only a little trouble on #9. Literally ran right past it! Went right back and pulled over a small tree and there it was! Hiding in the dark depths of the small depression. Felt a little tired on the long trail runs on the later legs, however I got a burst of energy on the last few controls and flew through the nice open woods there :)
bad route choice on number 15 though the thick icy woods :(
Worked on looking up on my compass bearings and using speed in the open parts.
Still need to work on my confidence inside the control circle.

Day 1 at Lossie!
really neat terrain with lots of fast running in the open parts
only had a few little errors, more so in the less complicated, open woods with few contours... of course
managed to hit all of the controls in the complicated stuff right on, and was feeling pretty confident. Then i doubted myself about running too far on #8, and had to run back a little to double check.
worked on running hard and looking up on my bearings
could have made sure i'd chosen an attackpoint for every leg; that's the plan for day 2.
loads of people in the woods, but i managed to ignore them all and run my own race

such an awesome and fun terrain!
worked on some speed and looking up on bearings.
Sand dunes and super open woods... would have made a pretty intense ARX video ; )

45 degres today with the humidex and a heat warning of 3 or something cray cray but i still went orienteering, with quite the crowd who showed up!
took it slow because i didn't want to bring on the heat stroke again.
still felt like puking at the end :/
had a little troubles on 2, was too far to the right on the side hill.
other than that, the nav was fun!
