Orienteering race 23:20 [4] ** 3.9 km (5:59 / km)
12c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Fishbones final mass start race. Decided to not do the map exchange and only do the first part. Very tired and headache-y.
Super fun terrain that reminded me of CIL land.
Great wrap to the trip!

Orienteering race 1:09:05 [4] *** 6.7 km (10:19 / km)
11c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

(Rough distance)

COC Long on W20
Wasn't feeling that super before I started today. Terrible sleep and probably not enough water made for a bad headache and a not happy stomach. Took a while to get going but soon enough I was pumped with adrenaline and felt fine. Now my headache is back so I gotta chug some H2O.
I did pretty well on this course but with two noticeable mistakes. On 2 I was too far to the left and relocated to a big valley to go back into the CP circle. Then on the long leg I stopped to drink water and plan but then had a mega compass fail cutting to another trail. After that I just opted for the long trail route all the way around. The rest of the course was solid with smart tempo changes and good routes.

Not sure if I was the only one who noticed this but the map scale seemed very strange today. We had a 1:10 which it definitely looked like, but running out there seemed to take a very long time... A 1:15 kinda long time...

Running warm up/down 5:00 [1] 0.7 km (7:09 / km)

Orienteering race 1:03:52 [3] 7.8 km (8:11 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Fishbones day 2 farsta!
Not very motivated to start this morning but I ended up trucking my way through all 3 loops! A fun terrain with lots of ski trails and enjoyable woods.
Took the last loop super slow to save energy for the COC long tomorrow!

Road running warm up/down 13:00 [2] 2.1 km (6:11 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Played around with running speeds during my warmup, doing some changes here and there, and then some accels.

Stretching 10:00 [0]

Orienteering race 14:25 [5] ** 3.1 km (4:39 / km)
18c shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

COC Sprint, W21E

A great, solid race at UPEI! I felt decent physically and my nav was really good. Really read ahead and planned my routes, especially on the last few legs into the arena. I was really focused the whole time, even when I kept seeing Tori out there. I also knew that I was focused because I even forgot about some CPs when I looked at my map again after the run. I was always a step ahead and didn't spend much time on some CPs when I knew where it was going to be so it felt like I was never really there. Made a small route choice error on 11, going south around a building where north was probably better.
Really happy with this race and exciting to have made the WOC 2016 team! :)

Intense game of Chicken relay memory-O at camp with team Go-Go-Gombi (With Ben, Owen and Evan) who finished 3rd!
Surprisingly tough intervals with climb and hotness.

A great wrap to the camp, thanks to all the volunteers, coaches, organizers, cooks and athletes!

Map Study 15:00 [0]

Going over our Middle with Tori, Pia, and Emma S in great detail instead of bearing another training at Hillsborough.

Orienteering 37:30 [2] 3.82 km (9:49 / km) +85m 8:50 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

First training at the SP Camp with da boyz
Ran some o-tervals of course 7 at race speed... or as fast as I could go with a sore shin and in the hot hotness.
Went well in the technical area.

Hoooooolyyyyy hotness batman!! I literally could not even.
Took things slow because I didn't want to kill myself out there.
The technical area went better than yesterday so I was glad that I met that goal.

COC Middle at Hillsborough - W20
This course was fairly good, especially the beginning. I had some pretty good flow and was able to run pretty fast. Made a small mistake on 4 but relocated quickly. Then I had a special moment where I though that 16 came after 9 so I payed a quick visit to 16 before 10 and then missed 10 by a bit. (Faile) I then got off my bearing by a bit on 17 and had to relocate off a trail.
I felt OK during this race, tired from the heat obviously but still good.
