Sledding 41:03 [0] 0.65 mi (1.0 mph) +8ft

Tracking Nut's sledding runs. She was climbing the hill and sledding down all on her own cause my ankle started feeling sore.

Stretching 30:00 [0]

Stretched and rolled my leg. My soleus seems super tight and heat isn't helping. Not quite sure what is going on.

Open 6 at Camp Bethel in Buchanan.
Beautiful weather and a beautiful course.
We got maps 15 min before the start. We only got a topo with limited trails marked so I took some time to transfer some trails. Also had to wait to decide what discipline I would be starting with first so I essentially had to transition after getting the map. I started about 15 min after the official start. For the most part I think this was time well spent.

Took an unmapped trail to the first point and arrived at the same time as someone who left at the actual start and took the long way (I would have ridden faster than them the other way too but still made my late start feel better). Some gravel road riding and a long climb up to some beautiful views on the parkway. Then a great singletrack descent on the Spec Mine trail and a road ride back to the TA.

No issues and a nice loop.

*Started watch a few minutes into the ride*

Orienteering race 3:28:03 [3] 13.2 mi (15:46 / mi) +4104ft 12:11 / mi
shoes: Salomon Speedcross Vario

Trek loop. Super hilly. Averaged a 10% elevation change. Realized as I was moving through the trek that I would likely be able to clear it.

Made a poor decision going from 12 to 4 to try and take advantage of an unmapped road that would save some climbing but realized it wasn't worth the risk. It ended up not paying off as well. I did save the climbing but definitely added a few minutes.

Also tried to avoid some climbing after 29 but ended up in a rhodo thicket and wasting a few more minutes.

Lost 4 min after dropping my map on a decent and going back to get it.

Only one true navigation mistake heading to 6. I was worried about my water and lost count of reentrants. Thought I relocated but was one early. Only lost 2 min.

Forgot my hat so wore buff and sunglasses instead. Worked well considering the bright conditions exceptfor the sunburn on my head.

Road Biking 1:01:23 [2] 16.57 mi (16.2 mph) +1248ft

Short fairly easy loop while the car was getting inspected. 37F and windy 15MPH with gusts of 25MPH. Chose my direction so I would get the tailwind on the open false flat and the HW on the descent.

Old Farm Classic Loop
Some snow, <30F and windy.
More wind than I was expecting in the woods. Some trails were clear (wet) and others had a few inches of snow. Legs were tired from yesterday making climbing slow. Beast was real slow especially at the top when it got steep and the snow got deep.

2 min slower than my reverse loop on fresh legs w/ no snow in Dec

Instead of a 20TW from home, I dropped off the car and had a 20HW (mostly) from Cburg with stronger gusts. Fortunately, the valley wasn't too windy. Heavy pack and coldish temps.

Ride back to the car with a well-deserved 20TW. Light pack.

This pyramid style worked well. Expected my legs to be more tired than last week but hung in there for all reps. Still, a long way to go though.
