Stretching x4

Summary for the first 6 months of a year:

Run 801.59km in total so far
- January: good training month, really finding a rhythm
- February: still solid, but some holiday (skiing)
- March: probably the best month of the year so far, finished with a 10k PB
- April: moved into the house, went on holiday, did nothing
- May: tried to make up for April, good month
- June: tired/ hospital/ holiday, didn't do as much as I like

Some ups and down but a huge change on last year, where I only ran 685.21km in the entire 12 months. Time now to start the training for the October half marathon
7 PM

Orienteering race (Northala Park Race) 30:35 [4] 6.7 km (4:34 / km) +60m 4:22 / km
shoes: Pure Cadence 3

Legs still a bit tight from the weekend, so needed a looong stretch pre-race. Once running I felt it a bit, but it probably didn't impede too much.

Very good course (generally lost of choices, albeit some dead running as well to connect the areas). Generally solid race, but I don't think I got the long route-choices perfect (West below the road, and west again may been a touch faster, rather than East/East).
A couple of minor errors, in particular:
- #6 (contoured a little too high - 10s)
- #12 (missed some detail in the control circle, so went a longer route - 20s)
- #17 (thought the grass would be long so went round the path, but it was cut in the middle and quite fast - 10-20s)
- #20 (was planning the next leg and didn't pay attention, so ended up in the wrong "inlet" of the bushes... stupid! - 20s)
The rest of the time lost on the winner (28:22) was down to running pace. Particularly noticeable around controls #14-18 where I seemed to have a bit of a middle-race dip

Overall 5th of 70-odd. Quite happy with that. Time per k could be faster though, but that probably just reflects the lack of running over the last few weeks and the tight muscles.

Running (Warm up/ down) 10:00 [1] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)

HFW (+sainsburys)... Raining cats and dogs when I left. Ran out of energy near the canal. Had a banana, then an energy bar, but no luck... Need to breakfast better I think

Finally went to the Garden Centre and bought a load of plants for the balcony. Very nice!

Cycling (Boris Bike) 20:00 [1]

Up from Shadwell to the far end of Victoria Park

Football (DiS vs To Madeira) 1:00:00 [3]

Mixed bag. Had some good moments but also a lot of rusty (read "horrendous") touches when well placed. Drew 1 -1, won 4-3 on penalties. Dropped cross led to goal, scored my penalty

Legs still sore this morning, so didn't head out. May squeeze in something short tonight if in the mood... (but didn't)

Running (Easy run (+ strides)) 53:01 [2] 10.85 km (4:53 / km) +120m 4:38 / km
shoes: Pure Cadence 3

Nice jog through the forests from the Hilton Hotel at Zurich Airport. I tried to print an orienteering map in the Exec Lounge, but then the lady suggested the hotel had maps... my mind went "I don't want your useless map", my mouth said "Great, that's really kind".
Needless to say their map was useless. The distances were all wrong and their main route was closed. Ended up running round in circles a bit randomly, but still all through beautiful forest with not a sound apart from birds, and a few deer. Undulating gravel tracks. Great training area.
Hamstring and quads quite sore from yesterday though. I think the speed up the (quite steep) initial hills in Zug has got to them a bit.
