(rest day)

Ran 3 days in a row, so listened to advice and rested.
Had a lot of fun coaching/supporting at EYOC but totally exhausted now!

Running 25:45 [2] 3.53 km (7:18 / km) +150m 6:01 / km
shoes: Asics GT 2000 v5

Figured the easiest way to fit in a run was to WD with the athletes after their race. Various bits of back and forward and some good chats.

Running 16:13 [2] 2.56 km (6:20 / km) +30m 5:59 / km
shoes: Asics GT 2000 v5

Nipped out for something flatter before lunch to see if I could make my v sore quads feel any better. I couldn't, but did get to see a bit more of Banska Bystrica.

Running 52:27 [3] 7.56 km (6:56 / km) +400m 5:29 / km
ahr:151 max:174 shoes: Asics GT 2000 v5

So there was a hill I could see out the window from the hotel, had a look on a map, saw there was a path up it, and off I went.
Feeling ok running along the river, even though it was super hot. Then I reached the bottom of the hill and it was all ok but I ended up on a path that ran out (went up the L reentrant when main path was in the R one) and it got really tough going uphill on soft ground in trainers. Had to resort to run a bit, walk a bit, stop to breathe and repeat! Finally reached the big path at the top (after 250m climb in 1km hahaha) and then it was only 50m more climb to the top! Pretty chuffed to have made it up and there were nice views but then the problem was I needed to be back at the hotel asap for the team meeting so I also had to go for it on the downhill. Really could have done with some trail shoes. Went over on my R ankle at one point and I thought it was game over but just slowed slightly and it was ok. Could feel my legs going once I reached tarmac but had to keep pushing to get back, quite good motivation haha

Orienteering 8:08 [1] 1.04 km (7:49 / km) +50m 6:18 / km
ahr:108 max:146 shoes: Asics GT 2000 v5

With the girls around the EYOC Sprint model having a look at the map and routechoices.

Orienteering 52:22 [3] 6.43 km (8:09 / km) +230m 6:55 / km
ahr:143 max:168 shoes: Purple MM 2

Up to the top of the long model map with Nixon and then some more running about at the top before orienteering back down. Controls 4, 3, 2, 8, 9, 10, 11. Then back to the finish and a little bit extra at the end to make it up to 1hr running! Feeling really good through the terrain and absolutely loving it even when it started thundering and chucking it down! Orienteering pretty well too, happy to have got out on a proper map while in Slovakia.

ahr:144 max:172 shoes: Asics GT 2000 v5

Supposed to be working but had so much else to do and decided a run with Calum and Andrew would be more fun! Up to Corstorphine, today saw Zebras, Wallbies and Monkeys! Fab to hear about Calum's adventures.
