Orienteering 1:10:00 [2] 7.2 km (9:43 / km) +202m 8:32 / km
ahr:122 max:164 shoes: More Mile Cheviot 3 Blue

Sluie, some shadowing and the map memory course.

Orienteering 14:33 [4] 2.42 km (6:01 / km) +20m 5:46 / km
ahr:167 max:180 shoes: Asics GT2000

Templars Sprint.
Again got tempted into it. Had just pulled Phil and Ben on a cart (~140kg) to the bins, legs had some insta doms and wasn't feeling that fast! Relatively straightforward, hesitant on 7,8, 13, 18.

Note

Absolute mare travelling back. Basically both of my flights got delayed, the first by over 3hrs. Didn't get to Stansted until 3am and couldn't get to the hotel I had booked so stayed the night in the airport. Finally got home and had around 4hrs in the house to turn stuff around and then drive up to Deeside. Possibly shouldn't have driven but never mind. In the end I was awake for around 40hrs with maybe 3hrs of naps...

Orienteering 4:24 [2]
shoes: Asics GT2000

Got tempted by the microsprint done for the kids, so shoved some trainers on and jogged round in my normal clothes. Fun!

Running warm up/down 9:16 [1] 1.38 km (6:43 / km) +20m 6:16 / km

To the start

OO-Cup Day 5, Slovenia, Stonah 7/26. 4th overall.
First start and I think that put me off a bit. Feeling quite tired in general, which showed in my orienteering and I was a bit dehydrated. So not great prep. Took an awful route to 1 which lost me 3mins, then lost another 3 by leaving 1 in the wrong direction and trying to find 2 in the wrong place. Then hesitant on 3. Couldn't seem to work the map out at 7 and lost a wee bit of time. Then put my foot in a hole just after 8 and whacked my knee quite badly off a rock. Stupidly tried to come off the drinks point to get to 10 but it was in a different place on the ground from on the map so that didn't work... Bad route to 12 and then messed up the last control as well.

After all that I really could not be bothered with a WD.
But I completed all the days and got my t-shirt. Can't be too disappointed with the results but definitely lots to improve on!

Running warm up/down 4:00 [1] 0.4 km (10:00 / km) +30m 7:16 / km

Chairlift up to the start, spent most of my warm up time taking pictures...

Orienteering 53:21 [3] 4.6 km (11:36 / km) +220m 9:22 / km

OO-Cup Day 4, Slovenia, Lajnar, 2/25
Toe still bothering me but made more effort to be positive and it worked. Such a long first leg, but told myself I just had to get to 1 and it would be ok. Enjoyed it so much more than Day 3. Found all the controls exactly where expected apart from 3. Got a bit distracted by Jenny and started looking too early. Went quite slowly and defs wasn't pushing at all but I was very clean which was satisfying and nice to prove to myself that I can orienteer after some disasters in the boulder maze.

Running warm up/down 6:33 [1] 0.7 km (9:21 / km) +35m 7:29 / km
shoes: More Mile Cheviot 3

Just a little one, toe sore.

Note

Went swimming in Lake Bled, absolutely gorgeous! Did a bit more 'real' swimming than in the other lakes, I am so bad.

Running warm up/down 10:17 [1] 1.33 km (7:44 / km) +40m 6:43 / km
ahr:136 max:155 shoes: More Mile Cheviot 3 Blue

To the start with Bry and then a bit more by myself.

Orienteering race 1:01:23 [3] 6.61 km (9:17 / km) +146m 8:22 / km
ahr:138 max:165 shoes: More Mile Cheviot 3 Blue

OO-Cup Day 3, Italy, Laghi di Fusine. 7/27
Really did not enjoy it, toe was very sore and I was distracted by it, made loads of mistakes and let myself get too negative during the race, which actually wasn't that bad as a whole.
Got stuck in unmapped undergrowth to 1 and then was scrappy and lost time on 2, 3, 4 and 6 ~5mins total. Then lost 2.5mins on 7, didn't go far enough, faffed, found 15 and then found it. Lost another 1min on 8, veering off.
After that the orienteering went better but I was very slow.

Running warm up/down 17:12 [1] 2.35 km (7:19 / km) +40m 6:45 / km
ahr:127 max:149 shoes: More Mile Cheviot 3 Blue

Was a grumpy bitch when I finished so took myself off to find the cows and appreciate where I was. Slovenia is gorgeous! Sat in the Meadow for a bit and then jogged back, toe not happy at all but I felt better!

Paddle/ice bath in the lake after.

Running warm up/down 11:07 [1] 1.62 km (6:52 / km) +30m 6:17 / km
ahr:135 max:156 shoes: More Mile Cheviot 3 Blue

To the start and some drills

Orienteering race 51:31 [3] 4.63 km (11:08 / km) +146m 9:37 / km
ahr:152 max:174 shoes: More Mile Cheviot 3 Blue

OO-Cup Day 2, Italy, Laghi di Fusine. 5/28
Started well again, so many boulders = so much fun, lost a minute to 9 getting stuck in the grot.
Then messed up 11 v badly, losing ~4mins, came around the hill too high, and then struggled to relocate. Then did the classic running too fast and lost another 90s on 12. Didn't plan well enough on 15, got put off seeing someone I knew with a headcam and lost another 90s. All in all not too bad but disappointed to lose 7mins in total!

Running warm up/down 15:14 [1] 1.95 km (7:49 / km) +30m 7:15 / km
ahr:129 max:141 shoes: More Mile Cheviot 3 Blue

Round the gorgey lake with Jenny. Genuinely the prettiest assembly area I have ever been to.

Swam in the lake after, it was so cold, literally the Arctic, could feel my body shutting down! But the boys said I had to swim round the rock so I did, think I must have bashed my L big toe, it was very sore after.

Event: OOcup/2016

Note

First day of the OO-Cup and my first time orienteering in Austria. Had so much fun and loved having no paths on the map. Yaay I love orienteering!
Then after we went to a lake and even though there was a thunderstorm we jogged in our bikinis for like 5mins to reach the lake and it was the best lake ever, so warm and so worth it!

Running warm up/down 15:14 [3] 2.31 km (6:36 / km) +167m 4:51 / km
ahr:151 max:165 shoes: More Mile Cheviot 3

Didn't leave quite enough time to get to the start, so was a bit brisker than intended.

Orienteering race 1:02:37 [3] 5.38 km (11:38 / km) +152m 10:12 / km
ahr:145 max:172 shoes: More Mile Cheviot 3

OO-Cup Day 1, Austria, Graschelitzen. 2/27
Doing the Ultimate course so no paths all week
Slow and steady. Was orienteering really well and most of the controls were just where I expected them to be! Lost some time on 8, hit a path just before it and got a bit confused with where I was so then was hesitant on 9 and 10. Actually went exactly where planned but wasn't very sure. Put off by paths to 11. 18 was the first big mistake, left 17 in the wrong direction and had to then correct. On 20 I hadn't read the description and was looking on the crag instead of reentrant and 21 I was looking too early. Fairly decent run reckon I lost ~3mins total.

Running warm up/down 8:32 [1] 1.34 km (6:22 / km)
ahr:127 max:140 shoes: More Mile Cheviot 3

Back from the finish with Jenny
