Orienteering - training 1:15:00 [3] 6.0 mi (12:30 / mi)

O training at Birnam hill with Loz. Up to the start (Loz put his compass down when ‘inspecting a bush’ so there was a bit of extra mileage and climb when going back to get it. Schoolboy error), then controls 2-7 from the middle champs last year. His cup didn’t brimmeth over with enthusiasm. He later said he was tired, and fessed up that he thought that I ‘might’ be stronger in terrain than him. Worrying thing is if there is no orienteering next year he’ll go from M12 (orange) to M16 (blue)!

Craig a Barns training

We are trying to get Loz in the forest more. Orienteering around Edinburgh is just not what I’d call orienteering, so a bit of effort was required. Took the van to Craig a barns, sent Ray and Loz up the hill first, then waited half an hour and headed up to the start / finish with Lucy and Bertie. Waited at the start / finish for them for ages. Ages! Got really stressed that one of them had got injured. Stressing badly. Can’t handle stress when I am so tired. I had just decided to head down when they turned up. Ray has got lost on the way to the start and Laurence had found the going tough. I was in no mood to go out when they got back but Ray persuaded me. Glad he did. So peaceful. I just breathe better here. Not even tripping and putting my face in a f’ing young spruce tree ruined it.

Orienteering - training 8:00 [3] 1.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Back down the hill, then yummy fish and chips from Pitlochry, eaten in the van at Linn of Tummel where we overnighted. Great views and the best starts I have seen, possibly ever. Bliss. The best of Scottish orienteering.

Walk 2:30:00 [3]

Ray, Bertie and I have taken to trying out Brunch places in Edinburgh on our only time together without L&L all week, Friday mornings. Walked miles this morning and ended up on Leith Walk.
