Cauldstane slap
Fun as ever. I was not mad for it, and had a poor handicap cause I won last year. Decided on xtalons over icebugs. Major mistake. After the first mile we were onto sheet ice. Dobbs would have been glorious. A bit uninspired, I wasn't putting my back into it. Passed Hilary S, Alex McEwan, Ian C, YP, Debbie, Eddie, Andy Kitchin in his first race for 100 years (he made it easy for me by stopping to take pics instead of being focussed and in the racing zone) and a crocked Carnethy Lady. Passed by Ray, don and Al Hart. Fastest lady, I won a book in the lucky dip:
https://www.amazon.com/Bill-Rodgers-Lifetime-Runni...How to keep running as you age. Hmm. I was one of the youngest in the race, so in theory it was quite relevant to me (the rest of the field were lost causes) but I don't think Bill built in the effect of running for 18 years with no left glutes. I think my body might not be salvageable. I'll read it though, and might base my training on it for next year's slap.
Ray won. The trophy returns to the bookcase
