Trail running 25:00 [3] 2.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
slept:5.0

I have GOT to go training more. I am at risk of RRR out-training me!

Not much sleep. Driving Ray and Sarah ON around for the fife coastal relay. Ray took over from Sarah at 4:30. Not much sleep. Ladies team had dropped out due to an attack of faderisim. Shame. Not really, as I got to go to Dan and Hazel's wedding race instead. Missed the start, got lost, but has fun anyway. Round the bog and up and down.

Trail running 37:16 [3] 2.7 mi (13:48 / mi)

Do I was catching up with the perma injured Al Hindle at the end of the trotter love race and he was bemoaning how miserable it was that people kept beating his strava goals and he is too crocked to do anything about it. I had wanted to do two thinks on Arthur's seat. To try a new route to the top, and to see how long the upper road to crows hill segment takes me. This run did both. The new AS ascent is a dick wall route apparently, and is suitably scary. I wasn't going to upset Al with adding my time to strava, but my watch malfunctioned (ie I forgot to look at the time when I started) and I had to add it to strava to see the time. 5:27 to his 5:58 (and Rachel H's 5:05, Ray's 4:33, and Nixon's 3:41). Sorry Al!

First time on strava and I don't think I'll do it again. Addictive!

Cycle commute 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
slept:6.0

Woken at 5:30 by Lucy, so in a shit mood all day. At least I have 2 days off work. It's mega stressful. I need to get running again for the stress relief, getting :-( with the lack of training.

Cycle commute 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
slept:5.5

I was planning to run yesterday, but bonked badly on my cycle home (FFS - it is only 8 miles. How ridiculos, so I must be ill still).

Feeling a bit better this morning. Not much sleep as I was writing a WOC article for ESOC. Trying to condense 5 WOCs into one article. I sent it off at 1am, too tired to proof read. Please excuse if it is drivel...

More bikers with helmets hanging off their handlebars yesterday. I am seriously thinking of forming a 'Lucy Ward research foundation', and stopping to quiz these cyclists in the name of 'research' as to why they do it. I mean if I claim to be a researcher, as opposed to just nosey, they'd be more inclined to fill me in, rather than just tell me to f-off. Then I got to thinking about all of the other questions I'd like to 'research'.

Cycle commute 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
slept:7.5

Woke feeling horrific. Still ill. V tired, but things I HAVE to do at work today. Dragged myself out of bed, and left the house 5 mins later. Nice cool morning, and by the time I am at work with a cup of tea I feel ok-ish.

Cycle commute 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
slept:7.0

Cycle commute. Great fun, as ever. A guy comes past me quickly, and I thought he would be off as he looked like a proper cyclist rather than the punters I usually race, but he soon slowed and started looking over his shoulder every 10m or so. Fatal mistake. I have got quite a bad cold and was supposed to be taking it easy, but sometimes it is just too tempting.

Trail running 48:36 [3] 6.21 mi (7:50 / mi)

Feeling ok but not running v quickly. In a bit of a huff. I was due to start training properly yesterday, but this cold has reemerged and I am feeling crappy, and LOADS on at work too.

Then again, there are things to be grateful for. The squad has cancelled a weekend at those races in the lakes in November to go to Crewe instead, for a weekend of sports testing. Participants have to pay heftily for the pleasure. There is nothing quite like a bit of sports testing at the end of a rest period to know just how unfit you are. And skipping the 2nd best races in England all year for the inspiring pleasure of Crewe and a treadmill. Its nice not being in the squad and not having the frustration of banging your head against a wall...

Road running 50:00 [3] 5.5 mi (9:05 / mi)
slept:9.0

I had to go to the bank for a meeting, so I ran there on the way home from work. Ray and I arrived dripping in sweat as he ran there too and it was boiling. It's probably not what bank managers 50 years ago would approve of, but as we were not asking for a loan, it didn't really matter.

Road running 12:00 [3] 1.4 mi (8:34 / mi)

Home from morningside. I still have the sniffle from last week so was taking it easy.
