Orienteering - race 50:31 [3] 6.5 mi (7:46 / mi)
slept:9.0

As expected a fairly lame performance around balnagowan for compass sport cup blue. I am inexplicably shit just now. Analysis and more training required. Meh! Glutes were weak, but only really painful on the jogging there and back stuff.

Beautiful day again! Tho the nice weather made for a chilly night last night in the van.

Ps loved Max C's defence of his Gullane planning on forest grump's ap. Get in there Max! I didn't go to Gullane, as sand dunes are my least favourite, but I wouldn't have wanted to plan yet ANOTHER event there and have to come up with something interesting. Fight! Fight! Fight!

Road running 25:00 [3] 2.0 mi (12:30 / mi)

Running about. I ran the mile to the start, I ran the mile back from the finish, I picked up the kids on their bikes, and ran back to the start with them. I left Lucy as the start / finish, ran the yellow with Laurence (which consists of legging it after him when he was inspired, and cajoling him to move when he was in a huff) then ran / walked back from the finish with the kids. Exhausting! It was so stop / start with the kids I haven't counted it.

Ray had such a bad time the mentioning of the 'o' word is now banned in our house. Fun!

Orienteering - training 43:00 [3] 5.0 mi (8:36 / mi)
slept:7.0

Lovely day. Lie in until 6:20, then perth leisure pool, then slept in the car as Ray drove to Deeside. Glorious day. Ray ran, I went to the play park, then I did 2 x 20mins at cambus o may while the rest cycled to aboyne. Going well. Glute not great, but ok when I got going. Nice to feel fast for the first time in ages. Nav good too.

Off-road running 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Token warm up / down as I was pushed for time and was worried it was getting dark.

Cycle commute 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
slept:7.0

7 hours continual sleep, and a chilly cycle - I feel much more perky today. Glute is still a worry, but R heel feels better and L heel was only just noticeable.
9 PM

Off-road running 1:03:29 [3] 7.5 mi (8:28 / mi)

Ray got back just in time for me to go for a late night jaunt. Felt great for once. Dark and misty, blackford hill (14:36) braids, buckstone, Morton hall, got lost around Alnwick hill, then got back to braids golf course, through the fields and home. Happy Claire!

Glute not great but holding it together.

Cycle commute 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
slept:9.0

So so tired last night after rushing back from Touch to get the kids to swimming to get them home and fed and to bed, that I went to bed at 9 without bothering to eat any dinner. Good sleep. Probably should have eaten something, though I was feeling quite nauseous I was so tired.

Woke with something v wrong with my left heel. This seems to have improved from walking and cycling though, so maybe lunchtime running is still on.
1 PM

Tempo run 57:17 [3] 8.0 mi (7:10 / mi)

So tired felt shocking all morning. Set off v slowly to see if I would get into it, and I did. Good time considering how tired I am just now. I think it has been two weeks of broken sleep now, and getting woken up for 10 mins or so a couple of times in the night is taking a surprising amount out of both me and Ray.

7:37, 7:32, 7:17, 7:19 29:45
7:03, 7:07, 6:51, 6:33 27:34

Another wet run, topped off with a wet cycle home. The latter was good, and perked me up at last!

Orienteering - training 1:17:00 [3] 7.0 mi (11:00 / mi)
slept:6.5

Laurence awake last night. I am so tired. I usually think that commenting on how tired I am is pointless, cause I am always so tired, but today I am extra tired.

Trossachs. Fun. Heavy sleet meant I got v cold though, and missed the last loop on the little hill. The trossachs plantation forest bit i haven't investigated as much before. It is interesting nav, but v tough indeed, and they are chopping the lower bits too.

Glutes perfromed well, right heel still bad.

Off-road running 15:00 [3] 1.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Up the hill to the start.
2 PM

Orienteering - training 56:10 [3] 7.0 mi (8:01 / mi)

Touch from gargunnock. Fun. Wet, v wet indeed. Nice course, and controls out - what a treat.

Off-road running 22:00 [3] 2.0 mi (11:00 / mi)

Cycle commute 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
slept:7.0

I was slower than usual on the hills last weekend, so it is time to get back on the bike, which I find really helps on the hills. If there was a law against cruelty to bikes I would have been arrested though. My lovely bike is covered in mud, and has been for the past 6 weeks, and I just oil the chain and get back on it...
12 PM

Note
(injured)

A lunchtime run started but soon abandoned due to actue glute pain. Damn. My right heel isn't great either. Sympathy pains with Nick I think, as it is not achilles, but under the foot.

Note
slept:6.0

The source of all of my injuries, my left glute has gone tight and sore over the past week or so. I need to try some streching / massage stuff.

Note

Lucy told me tonight that she loves daddy more than me as I go boring orienteering and he looks after them instead. It's always good to have the support of my full family. Does she like it when I win prizes? Apparently not as they always have to wait for ages, and I never win chocolate, crisps, sweets or ice cream. Sod the buff - just hand out packs of quavers.
12 PM

Off-road running 1:54:00 [3] 12.8 mi (8:54 / mi)
slept:6.0

Home from work via pentlands, Braidburn valley park and blackford pond. I thought I'd get a nice tail wind, but it was more of a headwind, which I ran into for the first 50mins. Really tough, uphill into the sort of wind that makes the double-chins-you-didn't-realise-you-had vibrate. Pooped by the end.
