Off-road running 1:45:00 [3] 11.0 mi (9:33 / mi)
slept:8.5

Hilly run on the seat. Slow jog, but pleased to get out there in the dark in a gale, at 4:30 pm, when the others were tucked up on the sofa watching shrek.

Castro, up radical road, then over the crags, down round haggis knowe, up the less muddy of the bog paths, and carried on up the steps to the top of AS, down around the front of the seat and the muddier bog path, round haggis knowe and up the path that goes above the bog, round the bowl at the top and down to St Margarets loch, up to whinny hill, nether hill (?) and down the gutted haddie home, followed immediately by an impromptu outing to the shops.

I love the way Arthurs seat is so close to home, and to a city centre, yet can still feel a bit exciting, esp when finding yourself in a gale, clinging on to some scrambly rock in the dark. Fun.

Ice bugs and proper head torch helped.

Off-road running 42:00 [3] 5.0 mi (8:24 / mi)
slept:11.0

I was going to run yesterday evening, as logistics with Laurence's guitar lesson meant I couldn't cycle to work. I was really tired by the time Ray got home from work at 6:30, and went for a nap, and woke up at 10:30pm. Whoops. I was worried I wouldn't get back to sleep again, but I managed fine.

Got up early for a run with Sula. I was going to do the park run, but in gale force winds it's not worth it. We got to the bottom of Castro climb and she pulled her hamstring. I walked her back, then went for a lap of the seat. I was feeling quite groggy still, so didn't do more. It will be v tough conditions for the XC for once if the wind keeps up. It is one of the wettest I have ever seen it in the park just now.

I think my body is just realising that I need to make sure I prioritise getting to bed on time if I am going to work and train and look after the kids. So lots more sleep next week and I'll be more together!
11 AM

Off-road running 41:46 [3] 5.0 mi (8:21 / mi)

Out again, as earlier I was too tired to run sufficient distance. From warrender park pool where the kids were swimming, down through the bog to warmth some XC. Back after 15 mins of watching and chatting as I was starting to freeze, and I need to look after my toes a bit more after the frostbite.

Not having a garmin is starting to irritate me. I have no idea what pace that run was.

Hills 48:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:36 / mi)
slept:6.5

Tiring day in glasgow, so was very weary trudging home from the station. I thought id go out to see if I could do anythin, and was pleased to manage 6 x 3 mins on Castro climb, half off road, half on. Warm down would have been longer but I had to get back in time for Ray to go out.

Armchair training 15:00 [0]

The long commute and a quiet evening helped me to pull together my training plan over the next few months. This left little time for actual training, but took a look at the Australian women's sprint course. Feeling back in control of my training again, which is nice. I am looking forward to getting back in the forests in the weeks ahead.

Note

A bit achey from yesterday, short on time and feeling ill, so I'll leave it at that today.
7 AM

Cycle commute 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
slept:7.0

Straight into the teeth of a substantial headwind this morning.

Cycle commute 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
slept:6.5

You can tell I am back at work as my sleep has gone back to minimal levels. I feel better on it for now though. There's something unnerving about total relaxation.

Grim cycle into a surprisingly cold wind, and rain, but I enjoyed being back on the bike again.
1 PM

Intervals - short and speedy 40:00 [3] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Not much time, and I forgot to take my training plan to work and I have shit for brains right now so couldn't remember what I was supposed to be doing, so I decided to do one of my favourite sessions, 20 x 1min on 30 secs off. Legs felt tired, but not niggly, so that's good. Probably a bit early for this sort of session, but it made me smile.

Road running 35:23 [3] 4.7 mi (7:32 / mi)
slept:6.5

long canal route, back through the fields past the chicken farm. v muddy. Garmin worked today, but seems to be rattling, Hmm. I feel a purchase coming on...
8 PM

Orienteering - training 1:10:00 [3] 6.5 mi (10:46 / mi)

Up to the Seat and some oing from the last big weekend. Second half of the brown. Fun. Nice evening. Needless to say the garmin was shit.
10 PM

Armchair training 20:00 [0]

Catching features. All I had time for after submitting Ray's self assessment tax return. it took 90mins, and I am a tax advisor. Ridiculous!
