slept:6.0

Sub 10mins/k for the first time this week. Some map memory. Rocky underfoot again. Pushing hard, but didn't feel right. You know when you push hard but lose the smoothness so don't necessarily go faster. Beat the m45 convincingly though so a good time.

Things are getting tense here. Will Ray pull back the 3mins lost yesterday to take M35? Is a 32 min lead enough for me to win 21e with one last opportunity to stuff it up? Will Kim beat Ricky again?

Bubo day 2

http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/doma/show_map...

Orienteering slightly on the sloppy side. Number 9 I thought I was on the white hill where I wanted to be 2/3rds of the way, but I orientated the map here and thought I was way wrong. I should have checked as I clearly orietntated the map wrongly. I was bang on, but didn't realise it, and went to the path to relocate. 11 I was just being thick, and trying to use the non-existant clearing (yup, sorry Nick). Needed more of a plan to 13.

20min lead overall now, so tomorrow I can have some fun. I'm going to go for the map reading the whole way approach, and take the more direct routes, just for a bit of variety!

Knee felt shite first thing, but iced it when still in bed, and it was surprisingly ok after that. It got a bit tired in the race, but only at the end and not as bad as yesterday. Fingers crossed tomorrow is ok. Trying out an interesting theory that if you run through enough pain your body becomes immune to pain signals, and doesn't notice it as much.

Felt slightly less unfit today, but something tells me tomorrow might be tough!

P.s. Ray winning M35 dispite running 1-2-1-3 (he left 2 thinking he was following the exit line to three, but it was the exit line back to 1 again). He was in the circle at 1 before he realised. That's impressive! Still, running fast enough and accurate in the rest (to best the 2 other competitors...).

Bubo cup day 1.

Nice karsk terrain. Rocky underfoot, inflaming my knee again. Hmmm. Not sure what to do tomorrow. Felt very unfit too. Great fun.

Cycle commute 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
slept:8.0

Logistics finally fell to allow me to cycle commute. Nice. The bike service has greased the seat post a little too much, leaving it loose, and also fitted brake blocks and replaced the frayed cables, meaning that when I yanked on the brakes, instead of a gradual, barely discernable slowing, I nearly went over the handlebars. Dangerous, having brakes that work!

Knee not noticably worse from yesterday's running. I think the cycling is doing it good.
1 PM

Road running 38:00 [3] 4.5 mi (8:27 / mi)

Longer canal route, with a bit of walking when I felt like it. It was hot and muggy, which was making me feel lethargic. I am definately through the post-WOC exhaustion now, and am looking forward to the lazy few weeks we have planned at BUBO and OO.
