Off-road running 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
slept:7.0

Warm up / down

Orienteering - race 42:00 [4] 4.0 mi (10:30 / mi)

Hopetoun house esoc ultrasprint.

I did race 1 first. Was going ok until I came out if the maze going towards 10 (I think). Punched the wrong control, realised after a bit and went back. Dropped 1:30. Otherwise good.

Race 3 next, and I was going fine, or so I thought. Mispunched number 3 apparently, in the maze.

The last race was race 2, and I had been having some fun banter with Chris Lewis. We were pretty close in cumulative time. He had race 2 left as well, so I started a minute after him. I got him quite early on in the maze, we raced the park, then back in the maze I was determined to do my own thing. He seemed to take some whacky routes, and we were back head to head into the park. I got ahead in the end, and when we downloaded he had four mispunches. 8 mins penalty. Oh dear.

Fun races. First time I have tried to run hard on a short course in fast terrain for ages. Exhausted. It felt so strange. I'm not sure my body liked it. I'll find out tomorrow.

From home to the braids trig point then blackford and home. My calf is winding up my Achilles. Need to get it dry needled again when I see the physio Monday I think.

Coughing all night so very little sleep, and woke up too crocked for running today. Bummer.

Road running 50:48 [3] 6.35 mi (8:00 / mi)

Ran the kb5 route from home, stopping off at fran's which was a bit of a diversion. Stopped at fran's for about 15mins so the run was really 32mins and 18mins, which is just what the physio ordered.

Cycle commute 35:00 [2] 2.0 mi (17:30 / mi)
slept:6.5

Very cold headwind today. Was going to get more sleep but Hot Fuzz was on, and we couldn't stop watching it (again)...
5 PM

Road running 50:00 [3] 6.3 mi (7:56 / mi)

Ran home from work. Had to stop about 5 or 6 times to stretch and massage my calf as it got tight.

Cycle commute 1:40:00 [2] 7.0 mi (14:17 / mi)
slept:8.0

Cycled from work to the physio at hay market then on to Aberdour to pick the kids up. Over the forth road bridge. In a gale. Not reccomended.

Physio was interesting as normal. Ever since I had my hip socket fixed I have has problems with my left hip flexor. It has no strength at all. I can lift my left knee to 90 degrees, and hold it for about 3 seconds max, and can't lift it at all if someone offers resistance.

I have two scars of about 30cm long from getting my hip fixed. One over one glute, and one across my stomach muscles (which was opened up again when I had a c-section) running up to my hip bone. The muscles underneath were cut too. He was trying out massaging the scar that runs over my hip flexors with the thought that when the scar was healing, some of the layers of muscles may have adhered to each other, and that is why the hip flexor has is poor. It felt slightly stronger afterwards, so maybe there is something in this. I'd be interested to know if anyone has experience of this sort of thing. Not sure how I'll get over my scar queasiness to be able to massage them.
