Grade: 3

Gout! Apparently what I had before too (Fall '09), and I'm pissed off that it wasn't diagnosed then (as it was a simple phone diagnosis this time). Tapering Prednisone seems to be doing the trick: 70% relief after 24 hours, 90% after 48, swelling gone after 72, still a bit stiff but feeling a lot better.

Drink more (probably my main issue), less meat (although I don't eat much as it is), less saturated fat (major contributor probably) ... keep an eye on it and get back into the exercise routine.

I'm going to call it "healed", although it's probably a life-long potential issue. The steroids definitely took this from a potentially multi-week injury to a few-day injury, huzzah.
