Rocky Mountain 1000 Day: Green Night-O

Cristina

1. +03:00Headed straight down the ditch with no real plan. Sort of lolly-gagged along the side of the spur in the green stuff before bailing down to the reentrant to find the intersection to attack from. Happens that the intersection is also where number 2 is, so that made for a good attack point. Should have gone to the right and used the trees, but did't know that...
2. I'd been there before, but still... It's hard to see stuff. I couldn't tell that the hill actually went down on the left.
3. +03:00Basically just booked it for the next reentrant over the spur, but I ended up hacking through the green and alternately trying to go around and deciding to go through. My indicisiveness took a lot of time.
4. The hacking method worked here, though it wasn't fun. Wanted to go right through the white and yellow instead of the green, but never seemed to be able to go far enough right.
5. Skirted the vegetation on the right, crossing the fence where the trees ended and then just kept the little hills and rocks in sight. Also saw about 30 glowing cow eyes off on the right.
6. +04:00Wanted to cruis on the trail, but I never found it. I thought I had crossed it, so I went back to the left looking for it, back and forth, and then all of a sudden I popped out on the big road at the top of the map! Yikes! So I trotted that way a bit and sort of tried to match up the map as I cross the reentrant, miraculously relocating well enough to find it.
7. Paid really close attention to the compass and the few hints of developing reentrants and basically tripped over it.
8. Stayed just above the reentrants, right of the line, popped through the tiny gap in the trees 150m out from the control and ended up about 10m right of the knolls. Not too bad, easy to find from there.
9. Stayed in the open stuff over to the reentrant with #2, and ran by both 2 and 1 on my way to the open stuff on top on the other side. Followed on top in the yellow, following tree line, right to the copse.
10. Ran to the little glimmer of light at the end of the field, only it started to move as I got close. Turns out it was another runner who had just punched ahead and was headed towards the finish. Luckily it wasn't hard to find at ~200m right of the huge finish lights.
F. Eric punched just behind me and I kept waiting for him to pass. Never did, must have been slacking.
