Race Evaluation

US Short Course Champs - Red: Red

1. +00:01I follow the streamers and they lead to the control and I wonder, if this is the future of orienteering.
2. Downhill, cross the spur and hit the trail leading to the control.
3. More or less straight, running out the reentrants and cross the hill.
4. +00:30The pavement looks enticing. I do it, but cut a little bit too late, have to climb one contour.
5. Run and plan ahead.
6. Cut to hill, along until I see boulder, than the control.
7. To open field, steep uphill, on trail, see control. Still don't have much energy. I move ok, but not aggressive like it is needed in a short o.
8. +00:30Go straight, get to trail at stream and then to bridge. The trail leading to the bridge would have been faster. From bridge straight to control.
9. +04:00To trail bend, along the big swamp, until I see peninsula. I pull up, aim for the white hill. I see a big cliff, imagine a parallel error, assuming I am at the large cliff W of the control, move E. Get to plateau, run W to edge, see control. Probably have been within 20 meters when I questioned myself too much.
10. +00:45Along edge of plateau, see park boundary, drop one cliff too early, see ocntrol ahead.
11. Below cliff to the control, nicely tucked behind a little ridge.
12. +01:00I run downhill on trail, intending to go along the bottom of the hill. Looks green, go around on trail. Slow route. Should have gone straight.
13. +01:00Over to bridge and along the edge of the hill to control. Again, straight through reentrant would be faster, I assume.
14. I stay on line, than trails to trail corner, aim across spur from dry ditch.
15. Contours to control.
16. Downhill to trail.
F. I punch my split before the finish punch, this explain my 'slow' run. Overall too many little squabbles and not much energy in the legs and the focus is not good. Need to wake up.
