Race Evaluation

Flying Pig X (OCIN): Red8pt-AB

1. I actually ran AA - not sure if there are significant differences in leg lengths. Ran pretty much straight - decent start.
2. Straight.
3. Thru open to trail.
4. +02:00What a bear! Went too far left early, so I could do some extra climb, then got back to the line before the creek, so I could run down the ditch instead of the trail. Took trail along creek to smaller stream. Climbed the ditch just right of the line, then down the other side, crossing the line, then along the stream, and up the gully until I could climb the spur.
5. Headed out due S, then went left of the reentrant, down and up.
6. +00:30Tried to head due E, but drifted right and had to climb to hit small trail, went left out the spur at the end of it.
7. +04:00Someone was nearby, so I left quickly without having taken a good enough look at this leg. Went down a few contours before realizing I wanted to stay up, so I climbed back above the contours, went just right of C4, down the spur to the stream - followed the stream and took the right fork onto the dashed blue, until I could climb out to the path and attack.
8. +01:40This must be a fork - my leg was about 300m. When I left the trail to head down, I couldn't take all the stones and crap in my right shoe any longer, so I stopped to take it off - spent over a minute untying it, and almost a half-minute emptying it and getting it back on. Then it was just down, down and up, up.
9. Ran way left to the trail and attacked from the closest point.
10. Thru the saddle.
11. Went down to the creek immediately and crossed to the trail - attacked from the left bend before the junction.
12. +00:30It was the best of legs; it was the worst of legs. Had seen Hammer come thru from the start triangle, so I took a left route thru the first circle, but instead of excuting 2nd circle to the trail, while running down to the stream, I took a sharp stick in the eye that broke off with a chunk trapped in, and I drifted right causing me to head thru an additional ditch.
13. +01:00My travel companions could see the stick, but not reach it, so I went by the ambulance, but no one was home.
14. Road, trail, spur.
15. +00:15Was distracted by two other runners suddenly being nearby and allowed myslef to get pulled to the right.
16. +00:15Followed pretty close to the stream most of the way, then climbed a little too far left.
17. +00:10Aimed for the gully junction instead of the top, had to correct course. My teammates didn't warn me as I passed.
F. Nothing left at all to show for the dwindling spectators (perhaps better called the clean-up crew).
