Race Evaluation

2001 Billygoat Run:

PG

1. I had done a number on my right hamstring on Tuesday at a XC race, so I had no idea what to expect physically. I jogged around a few minutes before the start, and it felt ok. So the plan was to start, but take it easy and be ready to quit at any time. The hamstring started hurting as I got close to #1, but it never got really bad, and before long I figured I'd just keep going, at least I'd get a decent training run in, even if I had to take the next week off. The result of this was an unusual BG for me -- (1) starting at a relaexed pace instead of the usual too fast, (2) feeling non-competitive, therefore not minding having people on my tail, or tailing others, (3) never trying to push the pace to get away from someone (not that I could have if I'd been trying...), and (4) having quite a fun time. By the way, I don't think ever was by myself.
