Yes, that's right, a 62:27 min split--Yeah!!!!! What can I say. Still haven't quite figured out all of the ways I turned, but I believe I pulled up one hill top too short. Because of all of the extra water from yesterday's storm, I had confused a new water filled reentrant with a stream. Then I proceed to search endlessly in red light mode, probably on the wrong hilltop. Believed I had relocated from major stream bend directly S of the control, and then the property boundary SE of the control, but I did not. After walking in and trying it four different times, I decided to run all the way S to the Mannesville rd. Hit the road/trail intersection directly S of control number 2, which leads me to believe I was searching one hilltop too far W. Ran the trail to what I thought was the major stream/marsh intersection SSW of # 3 and walked in, but still didn't hit it. So, back down to the trail. Ran it E to the property boundary and the small stream directly SSE of the control. Walked in and finally found it. Knew my 15 minute first place lead from day one was history. Wanted to quit, but decided to gut it out and see how I would recover from this disaster.

Straight on a compass bearing and pace count. Realized I had drifted E a bit and therefore stopped at the right pace count. Had to search in red light for a while. Should have just walked to it from # 3, but wanted to make up time--dumb.

Straight NNW to trail and property boundary intersection and tried to follow boundary on down with a bearing. But can't find the blazes after about the first 20 meters. Realize I'm drifting, but decide to just relocated when I hit the pond, which I do after having to struggle and fight my way through some nasty green.

W to trail and on up to right tip of Y intersection. Split the saddle and crossed over. Still trying to make up time, I overrun it a little bit and stop and start searching. Lost a couple of minutes here coming back from the trail

Straight to it, no real problems, but I have taken down several gears so that I make sure I nail it. A great deal of hesitation.

Still going slowly to get my confidence back. Aimed off a bit directly S to the stonewall and then ran it to the SE corner and attacked from there. Very slow and careful going in.
9. Ran too fast

Funneled to stonewall corner and then attacked. Trying to gain speed back, I'm not careful and get pulled into a rootstock about 50 meters SE of the correct one.
