Race Evaluation

Boulder Dash: Green Day 1

dness

1. Briefly considered running back through the start (which probably would have been faster). Instead I took the stone wall south to the trail and ran it to where it was tangent to the wall. Ran a bearing and was lucky to find the control.
2. Through thigh deep water.
3. Ran NNW, finding a faint trail whcih I took to the bigger trail to stone wall. Got to the right elevation, but too far W which took me a few minutes to figure out. Stumbled on the control while attempting to relocate to the east.
4. Overshot to west, wandered for too long. In hindsight, the topography should have made this easier.
5. Found the Red reentrant first (N of my control)
6. Straight
7. Straight
8. Straight
9. Very slightly left of line to stone wall, taking a bearing from the corner.
10. SSE to trail, then run to just before trail intersection.
11. Went up just after crossing marsh, coming to control from above
12. Took the trail to the left. Might not have been faster, but it was easier on my brain.
13. "swam" south to the control.
F. I was very surprised, given my difficulties with #3 and #4, to find that I was 2nd in M50.
