1. | Would have been faster to go along the road, but I came here to go in the woods. Up to follow the reentrant across the two walls . Saw the flag from about 25 M.
2. | A circuitous route to avoid barberry and wet feet and avoid climbing over the daunting hill near the end. Picked up the trail for a bit toward the end and then saw it right after crossing the wall.
3. | +01:20 | Drifted a bit right and got a bit off looking at spurs. Figured it out pretty quick, but had lost some time.
4. | Headed for the reentrant between the two big hills then angled to the trail Didn't see the wall, but easy enough to see the flag on the rootstock, from about 60M.
5. | More or less straight, trying not to go down the trail, although it probably would have been fine. Stayed above the steep stuff, headed down after the wall and could see it from about 30M.
6. | Crossed the wall at the stream (or the stream at the wall, continued R of the rocky stuff and on compass. Saw the dot knoll from a distance, which hid the flag until I was close.
7. | +00:30 | More or less straight to pick up the second trail to the bend, then on compass to the stone wall corner and in. Found the dot knolls, but where was the flag. Oh. On the ground. So took a little time to tie it back up.
8. | Along the line to the line of cliffs, then under them until things opened up a bit, North of the icy marsh with the stone wall running along it, then S to the trail, could see the knoll that the control was behind.
9. | Back to the trail, followed it until just before the wrap around cliff on the left, under the cliff and easy to see the correct knoll.
10. | +02:00 | N along the marsh under the cliffs. Up the reentrant and then across the stone wall, climbing a bit and contouring a bit. Came to where I expected it, but no flag, Hmm. Kept going, looking around, and saw it on the ground down below, maybe pulled off and caught by the wind? Went down and got it, tied it where I thought it should go. Lost a bit doing all that,.
11. | More or less straight. Saw the big cliff L of the flag, but the flag was behind a tree from that direction, so only saw it from about 20M.
12. | Another circuitous route, trying to keep my feet dry. A bit of trail N, then crossed the stone wall near the junction, followed the stone wall around, and then straight up from there.
13. | W to the stone wall, found the trail on the other side, trail across walls until across the stream, easy from there.
F. | Across some walls, picked up the trail. |
