USMA West Point A-Meet 2010: Green Y Long Distance

| 1. | right to rd, around to bend ese of cp - just under dk green | ||||||
| 2. | did not see uncross fence so got to it & found myself committed to more or less st rte - saw vious features on hillside, incl open area, bare rk , just beyond - dropped into control but it was not there! another unmapped - or differently mapped feature - another 10m to go | ||||||
| 3. | lost 3' here! failed to note that cp was on highest point in area - looked everywhere else:( | ||||||
| 4. | st, read both wet areas | ||||||
| 5. | started left around hill (should have gone rt) actually went round, was afraid of green being awful so went more or less on top of hill to ne part which was white - came down big reentrant nr 8 - got into marsh too much, surprise at fence, went rt to path & to bend & ok | ||||||
| 6. | st, ok saw clearing below | ||||||
| 7. | rt hand fence crossing tho ran right to fence, again.... | ||||||
| 8. | really stupid here & finally relocated on dirt rd running e-w & bk up reentrant I passed thru enroute 5 | ||||||
| 9. | considered going to tower but was not up for rockiness so down to rd, across ski slope, over form knoll - | ||||||
| 10. | south to rd, & all way up to top of hill - Sam Saeger & Hans B at cp at same time | ||||||
| 11. | easier than appeared - passed Barb B along way - just read the map! | ||||||
| 12. | over into parallel reentrant & down | ||||||
| 13. | followed Sam S & red runner down to trail, kept up with Sam but she did not run in - confused me briefly - she said she had another loop | ||||||
